Your favorite type of anime that may be Japenese or dubbed in English? Mine for example is Bobobo-Bo Bobo-Bo; just tell your favorite anime and maybe a reason that IS your favorite anime. Bobobo was my favorite just because of how random it was; it went beyond random, it had obvious comedy, so blunt you could knock someone out with it!

Neon Genesis Evangelion. I've become a fanboy methinks...

It had terrific fight scenes and an amazing psychological side. It was quite confusing at the end of the anime but it eventually made a lot more sense after the movie End of Evangelion.

I don't watch "Anime" very often, I just consider "Anime" another cartoon like everything else, but my favourite Japanese cartoon is Paranoia Agent, it's a wonderful psychological mystery that you all must watch.

I love Saiyuki, but always in Japanese. I love the characters, mostly - the male ones, not the female ones that are almost all cardboard cutouts that need to be saved. The male ones actually react with real emotion and, unlike some anime, stick to their beliefs even if something blows up in their face.

Plus, their personalities are almost palpably funny when you throw them together - a monk with a temper the size of Lake Erie and the gun to back it up, an ex-preschool teacher who gladly takes up an almostly motherly role and has the scariest rage!face you've ever seen, a womanizing half-demon with a heart of gold, and a 500-year-old demon who looks 18 and acts 10 who is constantly hungry. Tell me that does not make for good entertainment.

Bobobo actually had an AMAZING English localisation. My favourite anime is probably Death Note. I know haters gonna hate me for liking a mainstream anime but it was mainstream for a reason dammit! Other notable mentions are Chaos head, and Kuroshitsuji.

copied from your other topic since I didn't see you made two

I don't really know i don't really watch anime. If i had to choose, I guess either Death Note or Eureka Seven. Mostly because they're dubbed and I can't stand subtitled shows.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Because my god looks better than yours in a bunny suit.

Trigun, spaghetti western with a few twists and one of the coolest lead characters in anime.

Part of the fun in the first half of the series is figuring out what the heck Vash's deal is, couple that with some awesome action scenes and a bit of comedy too and you have a great show.

Erm toss-up between:

Death Note - the first part, not after...you know... L kinda dies :*(

Code Geass -cause LELOUCHE VI BRITANNIA is awesome

Hagane No Renkinjutsushi: Brotherhood - still ongoing, still got stunning fight scenes and astounding characters.

Azumanga Daioh - For making me happy. Such good fun.

All subbed. Can't really stand dubs for some reason.

Maybe a *slightly* inflammatory comment in an "I LOVE ANIME" thread...

I'm also a fan of Death Note, but Excel Saga comes in a fairly close second. Seriously, funniest anime I've ever seen. Oh, and I like both the dubbed and subbed versions of both.

Probably the first season of Haruhi, watching it was an oddly spiritual experience.. Some runners-up are Nanoha A's and Evangelion, and Kino's Journey might take a space in my anime pantheon (it hasn't yet since I haven't finished it).

Either Bakemonogatari or The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Both subbed as there is no dubbed version of Bakemonogatari and the subbed version of Haruhi makes her sound too old and makes Yuki sound half asleep.

I have a couple of favorites because they're all so different from one another but the list would basically be: Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Mobile Suit Gundam: 8th MS Team and Kikaider. Probably not very original choices, but I don't really watch anime all that often.

As for anime movies then I'd go with either Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust or Akira.

Edit - Also, I prefer dubs because I don't have the attention span to read subtitles. I'll pretty much only watch a sub if it's the only thing available or if the dub is just godawful.

Anything Ghibli (except the pig one, that one is crap). Can't seem to get on with anime serials.

Afro Samurai was pretty awesome. Ron Perlman's voice was perfect for that semi bad guy Justice. Other than that maybe one piece or full metal alchemist: brotherhood.

I like quite a few. Evangelion (I watch it in Japanese and English), Fullmeatal Alchemist, Elfen Lied, Blue Gender and Black Lagoon (notice a trend there?), all in English, are among my favorites
