Hellsing Ultimate- Dub. Mostly because I love the accents, and it's weird to hear them speak Japanese in London. Truthfully, I couldn't get into the original series, but the OVA pulled me in with a better story and lots and lots of blood.
Well, then again you have to realize that the original series ended up going on it's own because of the delays with the manga.

Neon Genesis Evangelion. I've become a fanboy methinks...

It had terrific fight scenes and an amazing psychological side. It was quite confusing at the end of the anime but it eventually made a lot more sense after the movie End of Evangelion.
Same. Although, I think Anno is actually returning to it, as there are 4 planned movies. The first one Evangelion 1.0: You are (Not) Alone is stateside, but 2.0 isn't yet. I think with 3.0 he's actually continuing from EoE, since I think it was in a trailer that showed Asuka with an eye-patch over her right eye.
This is rather old... I'm a much bigger, and very confirmed Eva fanboy now. Allow me to debunk and explain things.

Of the Rebuild movies, 2 are out. 1.XX, which closely follows the first 6 or 7 episodes (I forget exactly which episode number it stops at) but makes everything a lot more exciting and dramatic, but shows us a slightly more happy NGE with some characters knowing a little too much compared to where they were in the original anime.

In 2.XX, which hit DVD and Blu Rei(y)... March, I believe, the story deviates heavily while still following a moderately similar path. It covers episodes 7 or 8 (Again, don't remember exactly which episodes) all the way up to episode 19. It adds two new Angels, lovably nicknamed Clockiel and Tunniel by the community, but keeps three Angels, Sahaquiel - the one who used itself as a gravital bomb to attempt to destroy Nerv, Bardiel - the one who infected Eva 04 (Unless I'm confusing my numbers again... the black Eva), and Zeruel - The arm of god, the one who wrecked everything but was ultimately eatin' by Eva 01 in the anime.

3.0, titled Q, is rumored to possibly be released side-by-side with 4.0 in a double feature, back to back. That'd be simply awesome.

And finally, about the Rebuilds being a continuation of EoE, that theory definitly exists, but not for the reasons you list. Asuka has an eyepatch in the preview for Q for reasons that are very relevant to 2.XX. However, there are plenty of little signs pointing to the possibility of the Rebuild movies being a sequal to EoE - From chalk drawings and the red sea, to blood trails on the moon and the things a certain character keeps saying.

And that's about all the information I think I need to use today.

Cowboy Bebop. Its the only anime I can listen to for more than a few seconds without wanting to tear my eardrums out. And the music is pretty badass too.

<----This (Robotech)

Because it was my first taste of the Japanese anime and its fascination with Mecha. I love Mecha's!!

...Woohoo! You, sir, have made my day already. The fact that it's much more lighthearted than the anime makes me glad too. I loved the anime but hated the fact that it got so depressing at the end. Eh, but I've got Re-take to go back to (fan doujin, pretty damn good IMO) to end the series for now. Though I'd like to see the "official" ending too.

But aren't we going to have to wait for, what, 2015? ...Hm, creepy coincidence.

My favorite anime (that I still have on my harddrive) is "Planetes", a space opera, twenty minutes into the future (read: 65 years). I don't know if there is an english dub out there, but it's well worth a watch for the characters, their interactions and their chemistry.

I have a few myself:
First off, Rozen Maiden - Haven't watched it subbed yet, but I aim to fairly soon with a roommate or a friend. Watching Anime alone can be depressing at times. But this was the first anime to actually make me cry outward during
A villain's death. All three of them

Secondly - Small little 3-episode OAV known as Le Portrait de Petite Cossette. Granted, the story gets a little convoluted and confusing (I STILL have next to no idea what went on in the third episode) but it makes up for it by having terrific music (Yuki Kajiura being the composer) and simply stunning design.

I also just started actually watching When They Cry (More commonly known as Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni) and am enjoying it, despite letting out a loud sound of confusion at the start of episode 5 (Those of you who have seen the series know what I'm talking about.

Anyways, that's my $0.02

afro samurai + ressurection are brilliant adult animes but i do like death note anything by studio ghibli and Elfen Lied (although i think the first few episodes are just one weird nudity scene after another)

Yeah, everyone's a lot happier in the Rebuilds. Asuka, instead of being straight *****, is more of a tsundere, Rei shows a little more personality, and Shinji seems all around more adjusted, especially in 2.XX. It all kind of unravels though in a wonderful fashion.

And that's a terrific idea. If they aren't releasing 4.0 on New Years 2015, then they best have something fancy prepared for that date.

If I had to pick I'd probably say Bleach (subbed). Reasons being because of its great cast of characters and a wickedly creative universe that's one of the best in anime IMO. I'd give notable mentions to DBZ, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Trigun and Yu Yu Hakusho, all dubbed. Dunno why but Bleach is the only one I prefer subbed - Johnny Yong Bosch is the MAN but because the show is so inheritly Japanese all the names, concepts, places, swords and attacks all just sound forced and awkward in the dub to me.

It's just that with the original ending of NGE as it is... well you simply can't get more confusing than that.
I seriously sat there for what had to have been at least 30 minutes trying to figure out what I'd just seen, what human instrumentality was, and why everyone was clapping...then I watched End of Evangelion, and I swear, it's one of my top 5 favorite series now.

I don't know that I have a favorite, but I'm a fan of FLCL (vast amounts of ridiculousness here), Elfen Lied, regardless of how easy it is to parody, Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, Paranoia Agent, though I'm not too familiar with it yet, and Azumanga Daioh, because seriously, I don't think I know anyone who hasn't found it funny.

Also, I have this film-snob type friend who was so excited to see that the Major wore what he referred to as "people armor", instead of just metal plated lingerie in Ghost in the Shell, that he developed a liking for anime right there an then.

With previous knowledge of EoE, the last two episodes of NGE actually make a lot of sense. Previous knowledge of future works is all that is required to make things make sense...

There's only one issue with that, however. Apparantly, some guy who's fairly high up on the totem pole at Gainax mentioned that the ending that appeared in Ep. 25 and 26 was planned from the start, but there's simply so much wrong with that and so many reasons why that just cna't be the case. I don't know... I'm just choosing not to care about him; as far as I'm concerned, EoE was planned despite what the guy says.

And there wasn't a single anime you just listed that I don't like. Elfen Lied was good, gorey fun no matter how shallow it may actually be.
