yah, i don't even acknowledge the existence of post-Black Album Metallica. Yes i enjoyed the Black album despite the noticeable shift from good music to mainstream. In my world Metallica all died after the release of the Black Album.
I agree with you in the case of St. Anger(Ugh) and Load and Reload for the most part (there were some pretty cool songs on those two, but too few and far between), but cmon Death Magnetic was pretty darn good.
death magnetic didnt get the same rise out of me as did their previous work from the 80s. Maybe im livin in the past too much, but i feel like Death Magnetic was a much needed step in the right direction. I did enjoy All Nightmare Long. Favorite song by Metallica either "One" or "Welcome Home(Sanitarium)"

Here's how my top five goes:

1.Creed
2.Disturbed (by the slightest of margins behind Creed)
3.AC/DC
4.Metallica
5.Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne

I'm pretty much into all things rock with a nice little variety of different rock sounds.
You're joking, right? Creed? Seriously? Whenever I say I enjoy Creed I do so in a satirical manner. I'd hope the rest of humanity would do the same. But I digress.

OP - The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and the Killers are my three favorite bands.
Give me a break man! I really like Creed. I love the band's music because it appeals to me, just like my other top 5 bands. I know you don't like Creed but you don't have to patronize me over it.

My most favorite band has to be Lordi. They're basically why I went to rock and metal.

Runner up bands include:

Disturbed
Killswitch Engaged
Slipknot
Godsmack
Three Days Grace
Metallica (old ones)
Breaking Benjamin
System of a Down (just a few songs)
Korn
Skillet

Thats about it.

No worries, I was "kind" of joking :p I don't mind some of those bands. it's just a different taste in music, that's all.

Fair enough. I particularly enjoyed "Suicide and Redemption", "All Nightmare Long", and "The Day That Never Comes" off the album but they were all pretty solid in my opinion. Favorite all time has to be either "One", "Fade to Black", or "Creeping Death", but seriously to me that's like choosing three family members to save from a burning building.

Oh I see what you did there. Hahaha. I need to stop taking things so seriously. Nice taste in music by the way.

Right now, Rise Against and Disturbed. Marylin Manson, The White Stripes, Nirvana and Metallica are close behind, though.

Top 10:
1. The Beatles
2. Led Zeppelin
3. Rush
4. The Who
5. Pink Floyd
6. Radiohead
7. Muse
8. The Rolling Stones
9. Bob Dylan
10. Red Hot Chili Peppers
Actually, I think Rush, The Who, and Pink Floyd are all tied. They're all awesome in their own ways. They each have some of my favorite songs ever, but they still don't match The Beatles or Led Zeppelin in overall quality. Unless you took Keith Moon, John Entwhistle, Geddy Lee, Neil Peart, Roger Waters, and David Gilmour and put them all in one band (with two drummers, three bassists, two vocalists, and one lonely guitar player), those two just can't be beat.

ULTRA-SNIP!!!
Two of the members of Creed went to my school before they started the band. Still don't like them, but nonetheless, something to brag about.

In the loosest of orders:

* Iron Maiden
Because Maiden, dude. Sure, they went through an off period in the mid-90's, what with Dickinson going off and doing his own thing and all, but they're one of the very few bands that have been consistently good for more than 30 years now. They haven't done a bad song.

* Edguy
There's just something about power metal that gets me. It's just awesome. That, and the vocalist went and rounded up the best and brightest to make Avantasia, just so he could do a power metal opera. That gets him bonus points, in my book.

* Rammstein
German industrial metal and insane pyrotechnic live performances? Hell yeah. I barely speak a word of german, but that's probably for the best with Rammstein...

* Rodrigo y Gabriela
Two folks on spanish guitars and nothing else is apparently a winning formula for kickass music. Give them a listen, seriously. They are incredibly skilled.

* Joe Satriani
Because he's a great guitarist, and just about as funky as a white person can be.
