"The Last Vampire" - Christopher Pike

I like it because it was a fun read, and it was actually entertaining for me.

I'm going to get killed for this, but The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan. It got me into high fantasy and is an awesome read.

Well, besides that, I'd say Dreadnought, by Sherie Priest.

A Union battle train travels west on a secret mission during the Civil War in alternate history Steampunk America.

It's pretty awesome.

i dont read to much but my favourite book would have to be earth abides.

It tells the story of the fall of civilization from deadly disease and its rebirth. Beginning in the United States in the 1940s, it deals with Isherwood "Ish" Williams, Emma, and the community they founded

I've read way to many good books to pick a favourite.

The best I've read lately though, is Omerta by Mario Puzo.

American Gods and Anansi Boys, with Good Omens coming up in a very close following (By Neil Gaiman, Neil Gaiman, and Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman collaborating, respectively). Following those give Pratchett's Going Postal, O.S.Card's Ender's Game/Ender's Shadow Carroll's Wonderland tales, and Dostoevsky's Demons.

My favorite book is A Storm of Swords by George RR Martin, but I think after July it will be A Dance with Dragons in the same series (That's when it's coming out Squeeeeeeeeeeee).

I think overall my favourite book is Saturn's Children, by Charles Stross. I also really, really like Iron Sunrise, by the same author. There's just something about it that's really stuck with me. Beyond that, Surface Detail by Iain M Banks is magnificent, and recently I've discovered the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. I've only finished the first book, The Final Empire, but it was... 'wow'. Thing is, I don't tend to have all time favourites. My tastes always flux and flow quickly, so I just have 'favourite books I've read recently' where recently is say, the last 2 years or so.

Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.
A great piece of satire taking place in WWII.

The collection of all the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books, by Douglas Adams.
Read it, and you'll love it.

Contender might be Mogworld, but I just got it a couple of days ago.

Aye, I agree with this. They're nothing compared to the real thing. If he ever decides to finish the book Herbert was working on when he died (they found a roguh draft or a plot outline or something in a lockbox somewhere) I'll kill him. Or write an angry letter/

OT:Other than Dune, Traitor General by Dan Abnett. A good fun read.

I refuse to pick one book. I must pick a series.

Specifically, The Wheel of Time series. By Robert Jordan.

I love it for all the normal reasons you'd love a book; good writing, good characters, good story. But also because it's huge, both in size and scale. It is truly an epic series.

I don't know why, but I just could not get into Good Omens. Trying to read it felt more like work than enjoyment, so I gave up. However, American Gods was probably one of the best pieces of literature I've personally read. I also loved his book Neverwhere.

All that aside though, my favorite book would have to go to my all time favorite series: The Dresden Files. I guess if I had to be more specific as to which one I would have to go with Changes.

Can't wait for Ghost Story. I'm upset it got pushed back so far.

It usually switches between "Crime and Punishment" and "Fahrenheit 451."

Right now, is a Crime and Punishment day.

Can't agree more. Rounding out my top 3 are Deadhouse Gates by Stephen Eriksson and Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami.
