Mat Cauthon, A'Lan Mandragoran, Belgarath, and, of course, Drizzt.
Agree completely with the first two. I was wondering if that's where your name came from.

Edit: Forgot to actually add something to the thread. I'd say Karsa Orlong and Anomander Rake from the Malazan Book of the Fallen series.
Agree. Especially Anomander Rake, he's The Awesome. To add something I have to say that Quick Ben (from which I took my name,) from the same series rules too.

Edit: Forgot to add that Anomander Rake>Jesus
I forgot about Quick Ben. In fact, most of the characters from that series are awesome. Except Trull Sengar, he depresses me.
It is a dead tie between Quick Ben and Anomander Rake. I love this series, and Steven Erikson is one of the few authors I have encountered that consistently create characters that are actually interesting and fun to read about, rather than just filler that readers are forced to slog through in order to get to the characters that actually matter (im looking at you Terry Goodkind). Also, an honorable mention goes to Inquisitor Glotka from First Law Trilogy.

Sherlock Holmes, Vetenari, Death (as portrayed in Discworld), Dr Coffin (Alan E. Nourse), The Doctor (He's been in some books!) and The Bork (from an immensley cool short story by Roger Zelazny. I could go on but those have to be my best.

The dude from 1984. I really felt sorry for him. Damn, that book is so frakking depressing. Him and the narrator from War of the Worlds.

Also, am I allowed to say Gaunt's Ghosts in general? As in, all of them? They are so awesome, all in different ways. As well as so real.

So many to choose from:

Serverus Snape.
The only guy bad-ass enough to betray Voldemort AND kill Dumbledore. And do it for love.

Both Trent and Kisten from Kim Harrison's Hallows series. You're never sure if you want to (or have Rachel Morgan) Love them or Hate them.

Artemis Fowl.

Shadowspawn, from Thieves' World. And maybe Lone, if the new Thieves' world ever get beyond 2.

half of the POV charachters from a song of ice and fire.
I will be one then. All of the characters are written amazingly. Tyrion Lannister POV parts are awesome, as well as Jon Snow, but one of my favorite chapters is the POV for Victarion Greyjoy. He is a complete badass, and I hope we get to see more of him in future books.

Characters from a song of ice and fire have a nasty habbit to die, as soon as you are accustomed to them.

Captain Ahab from Moby Dick (I too hate white whales with a passion) and Captain Phule from Phule's company.

Discworld's Samuel Vimes, because he's hilarious (then again so are all Terry Pratchett characters), and Nish in Ian Irvine's Three Worlds Cycle (Australian fantasy series released in the UK and America as well about a fantasy world and 4 different human species). The series actually consists of a quadrilogy, another quadrilogy 200 years later, a trilogy 10 years after that, and a trilogy yet to be released set after the first 4 books. Nish is brilliant because he starts out in book 5 (1st of the second quadrilogy) as an emotionally insecure boy who yearns for his parents love and recognition and the love of the main protagonist, and by the 10th book (2nd in the trilogy, numer 3 isn't out yet) he has risen above all this and not only stopped a war but become a man in the process, shaped a world and fought against his own corrupt father to destroy an evil empire and help the world through it's troubles. He starts out as a boy and yet by the end of the series so far he is one of the greatest characters in literature, someone to aspire to, and the change makes him so interesting and one of my favourite literature characters.

Hareton from Wuthering Heights, I even loved him when he was a little monster.
Puck from Midsummers Night Dream. He's flippin' mental :D
I'm performing one of his monologues too.
There's more, but I can't think straight at the moment...
