Pretty sure this doesnt exist.

So, what's your favorite (and you can say worst), Create a Character system in any games that allowed you any options at all to customized what you looked like in a game? And why? Were there too many/too few options, nothing that really made it stand out, could you create your favorite other characters (like Spiderman/batman/M. Bison)?

I'll say my favorite was Dragon Age Origins' simply cause you could spend a long time planning and creating a character that still felt like it actually played towards anything.

I think my worst was Soul Calibur IV. Yeah, its a good system, but when you offer force wielding characters with lightsabers as an option to play as, you should also give the option to build a character from the ground up using one of those styles.

I don't play many games with character creation.
And for some strange reason one has stood out for me.
The create a skater system in Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4...
Maybe I'm choosing it because of nostalgia, but I remember makin' some pretty bad ass guys there...

Hmmm if it counts I would say Armored Core 1s creation system. I loved spending ages customizing my mech.

If not then possibly Oblivion or Dragon Age too...

I'd say for worst possible Fable 2, just for the fact that no matter how I played I had a ridiculously beefy pale character.

The Smackdown VS RAW series always has a pretty indepth character creation system, which I approve of.

Though, I think my favorite is Saints Row 2, given all the options for making your character's shape, face, voice and all of the clothing options...
Endless (and often bizarre) possibilities.

I have to say champions online, if they made the character creator into a stand alone game I bet people would still buy it. You could literally spend hours just trying to get the perfect superhero.

Worst has to be Fable 2 you can't make an decent looking character.

Oblivion was good, especially when you branched out into modded races. Pretty annoying that you couldn't make a proper albino though, you always ended up bluish. I wanted an albino Khajiit assassins :(

Neberwinter Nights for worst, if only for the low-tech of it :p

I made a full white Khajit.
Only the tip of his tail was blue...>_>
I still don't like the fact that I can't have the option to hide my tail when wearing a robe or something.

Old skool dungeons and dragons was fun, building a 7-foot-tall dwarf mage while surounded by nerdish buddies was great, better than the actually game, come to think.

Dragon Age's was probably the best for me. Worst? Fallout 3's, at least for me. I didn't think there was much customisation, and it wasn't like there was a nice choice of races like with Oblivion (which, apart from the races, kind of sucked too).

Edit: actually, Saints Row 2's out-classes all.

I really liked Saints Row 2 because the level of customisation goes so much deeper than most other games. Although RPGs are generally good. My worst is skate. I think because no matter what you do your guy always looks exactly the same and you can't even choose to be a girl.

Saint's Row 2's character customization system was utterly and ridiculously amazing. You could pick anything from your generic african american gangster in a jersey, to a skinny british guy with 5 o clock shadow, great hair, and an earring in the gay ear, wearing a Morpheus-esque black-trenchcoat-and-suit-with-colored-shirt.

Guess which one I picked.

Any of the 2nd edition D&D Infinite Engine games, especially Icewind Dale as you got to make 6 people. The hours I would spend clicking the reroll button to get my fighter classes an 18/00 strength with good scores in other useful attributes are my fondest character creation memories.

Also fun in BG 2 if you used the multiplayer game to let you play through the campaign with 6 people you created. Then you could mess about with class packs properly, as the characters you create have decent stats. unlike the ones the game gives you.
[Disclaimer: I love the npcs of that game because they have so much content. But on the n^th playthrough it can be fun to make a party of stat-gods].

Worst would have to be something like Jade Empire, because the game gives you some new styles when it's almost pointless trying to level them (some sort of unlock upoon game completion would have been nice, even if it didn't fit in with the campaign), or Dragon Age, which lacked the dearth of options BG 2 or NWN 2 did. I still love both games though.

Yeah, I never got that stuff either. I mean, I'm not a girl, but its nice to have the option to play as one. especially if you get a game that you can have different designs of clothing.

I don't get people saying Fable 2. I always ended up with sleek, badass characters on that game. Admittedly that's cause I didn't put ANY points in Strength of whatever its called, so my character was always thin as he could possibly be.

My favourite has to be Saints Row 2 though. So many options...

I'm gonna go with The Sims 3, really deep but without overdoing it. It has enough sliders to make it accurate without overdoing it, and the nature of the game really makes them relevant so it always feels like it pays off.

Champions Online was pretty good too. I couldn't really create all the costumes that I had in mind, but there were enough options to really make the costume fit the powers you were going with. Looking back on it, the character creator was probably the most fun part of that game ^^

As for the worst. Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. Goddammit! I can forgive the lack of interesting hairstyles, but even beyond that they made so damn sure you didn't stray too far from the "grizzled space marine" look that it makes me question why they put it there in the first place! Still, it wouldn't have been a problem if it wasn't so clumsy, you can only view your character from two angles, so it's waaay too easy to overlook a messed up detail that becomes painfully clear every time the game zooms in on your face (which it does a lot!), but by then it's already too late! What bugged me the most was that after I finished Mass Effect with captain uglyface there was no way I could change it for Mass Effect 2 without having to redo the whole thing from scratch. I don't know, maybe I care too much ^^

Well I like the look of DC's Online Character Creator. My least favourite is easily Neverwinter Nights 2. Just horrible to look at and a joke when it comes to customization.

Champions Online. Seriously, you log in and maybe 4 hours later I am ready to play. Maybe. I may just use the last 2 hours I have to add extra polish then log out and go to bed. I will actually play the character tomorrow.
