Favorite Developer

After a little visit to the Search Bar, I saw that the latest "favorite developer" thread was made in January. So since I can't really talk about my favorite developer there, since it is considered necroing, I'll just make a new one.

And I will not make a poll, because people will get pissed over the fact that their favorite isn't on there. Maybe not pissed, but they'll surely write "How could you not include X there!?" I'll tell you why: Because I can! [sub]Also, I've never heard of them[/sub]

So now you must write comments explaining your choices. There's no click-and-begone strategy here. Go on, tell me of your favorite developer and their works.

My own personal favorite is, perhaps obvious to some, Pangea Software. Back in the day, they created the games I grew up with, and they will always have a special place in my heart.

I don't really have a favourite developer. Maybe pandemic because they have made some great star wars games. Also bungie because I really liked the halo series.

No real personal favorites. Maybe Epic Games for the UT series and Jazz Jackrabbit.

Mine would have to be 2K Games. (Owned by Take Two Interactive)

Because Bioshock and Borderlands are so awesome, as will be Bioshock 2.

And Bungie, for making an embarrassing amount of money with the Halo franchise.

I'd take Bungie because not only did I enjoy their Halo franchise, I enjoy how much they interact with their fanbase and frankly, how childish they are. They are just hillarious and it is always fun to see their posts.

I can understand who are first- and third-party developers are, but what does "second party" mean in that context?

A company that is owned by the console maker but has some independence. Nintendo owns Intelligent systems, but they can do whatever they want. Other examples of second party developers would be Insomniac and Naughty dog which are both owned by Pony but can still do whatever they want so long as they stay PS3/P exclusive.
