Bethsoft. Mostly cuz i live right near it. Seriously, the city that Bethesda Softworks is located in (aka Rockville, MD) is two miles from where i live.

Monolith because they are one of the few developers who still makes good survival horror games. They also really seem to make an effort to address problems found in their games for the sequel(Although FEAR is 100000x better than FEAR 2)

Ubisoft Montreal because they put out some really awesome games. Splinter Cell, Assassins Creed, Prince of Persia, Far Cry 2, Rainbow Six, it's amazing how productive that studio is.

First party: Nintendo.
Second Party: Intelligent systems.
Third party: Capcom.

I can understand who are first- and third-party developers are, but what does "second party" mean in that context?

A company that is owned by the console maker but has some independence. Nintendo owns Intelligent systems, but they can do whatever they want. Other examples of second party developers would be Insomniac and Naughty dog which are both owned by Pony but can still do whatever they want so long as they stay PS3/P exclusive.

Actually, Insomniac is still third party. Just pointing that out you know...Also Naughty Dog is first party...yeah. Sony bought up Naughty Dog 2000 After they had released all their Crash Bandicoot games.
