But god forbid (No pun) any atheist make a joke degrading religion, or everyones up in arms. :/

If any theist were to come onto this forum and call you a degrading term for being an atheist I would happily defend you. I just never see that happening on these forums so every time I am defending a belief that involves the existence of god; the side I am defending from childish insults and unnecessary derogatory remarks is organized religion. Sure there are zealots out there but that does not mean you are justified in acting like a smug prick on these forums so that you can feel smarter.

There are plenty of scholarships related to your race and gender, but it's all one way. Minorities (in the Politically Correct sense of the term, not a regional one) get plenty, as do women, but if you're a white male, clearly you've never suffered hardship, and clearly your parents have enough money to pay for college, so you don't get a scholarship, *****. Now fuck off.

I have to stop you there. There are a few scholarships i've found that are for women in general, but they are usually given to minorities, because again, minorities must have it harder with their nice cars and stuff. Other than than i've yet to find a scholarship for white women only or anything like that. You'd think being a woman would make it easier, but nope.

Let's not throw around words of that caliber with such ease, especially out of place. Some of us have been raped and to see it so flippantly wheeled out and used so incorrectly is not only hurtful, by insulting to many.

If you engage in sex with someone not able to consent, upon their regaining of sufficient mental capacity to decide if they would wish to consent, they chose not to, you are a rapist. Just the same as someone who would abuse a child or the mentally handicap.

I think it's actually a quite important issue.


A mate of mine had consensual sex with a girl he picked up in a uni bar. The next day they've both sobered up and she 'remembers' she's got a boyfriend, and suddenly my mate 'raped' her.

The police rocked up, pulled him out of a packed lecture theater and treat him like he's 100% guilty. He gets a court hearing, and after using all his savings defening himself, is aquitted.

She gets off scot free, with not even a 'don't do it again' from the judge, while my mate is down all his savings for uni and is know about the campus as a 'rapist that "got off"'.


This is a terrible travesty, and one that is happening more and more. I understand that it may be a touchy subject, but it's a issue that can't be ignored.

This stereotype disgusts me. Women and men both commit rape and both report false crimes. Would it not be to leave gender and personal bias out of it and deal more with the facts at hand? Perhaps even work to prevent rape and false accusations altogether? I am certain it would be time better spent than further spouting abound this nonexistent double standard of the regretful woman and the drunk man.

The problem with this is that LEGALLY in many states a woman can have forced sex with a man, without it being rape because there is no forced penetration. Whereas a woman could take a man home have sex, and if she regrets it after the fact it could get a rape conviction. Heck it even easyer now with the standard of evidence required being lowered. Yes if someone gets shot to death they have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt i did it, but if someone is raped it only has to be done to the "preponderance of evidence standard."
You can argue that its not a double standard all you want, but i would bet you cant find just 1 example of a woman being convicted of date rape with alcohol.

I really hope that "people" is referring to people other than me, because if you'd comprehended what I wrote (I'm making the leap of faith to assume you read the entire thing, which is more than most people on this site do), you'd have gotten that my point was not "ew gay aliens".

My point is that I play games as a form of escapism. And it's not homophobia to feel awkward when a gay man hits on you. It's feeling goddamn awkward. I play role-playing games to be someone cooler than me. And I like to imagine that if I was cooler, I'd get hit on by people I'm attracted to. I don't give a shit about how it's different from reality, because it's a goddamn video game.

It's growing increasingly annoying that people can't understand: I am not homophobic, I just don't like it when guys hit on me. In real life or a video game.

Also, thank you for using the same goddamn logical fallacy everyone else uses, and using worse grammar (and strawman-esque statements) for your [made up] quotes representing a view opposing yours. It's almost as original as sarcasm as a way of proving how stupid an opponent's view is.

My 'favorite' double standard is the one dealing with acceptable exposure.

If a man takes off his shirt to flaunt what he's got, he's a manly man that it's okay for children to look up to. Said flaunting of physique might even help him to become governor some day (as well as to sire an illegitimate child or two along the way).

If a woman takes off her shirt for so much as ventilation, she's a shameless harlot whose going to corrupt the children of the world (maybe even her own child if she was about to breastfeed her/him?) and a disgrace to society.

Regarding point 1 (the part not directed at me): Actually, me and my mom have to go to a food bank every couple of months, and we get treated with respect even though we're white. Though, part of that might be that the majority of the poor in my area are white, so...

Point 2 (the part actually directed at me): I can understand scholarships for minorities to encourage diversity at school. But if you're going to a school that is 70% black (which I am planning to), then black people aren't a minority. Sure they are, nationally, but scholarships offered for minorities by a school should, in my opinion, be offered to people that are actually a goddamn minority there. Gender is a different issue: It just bugs me that scholarships for women exist in the first place. There are as many or more [http://www.nber.org/digest/jan07/w12139.html] women in college than men. Frankly, I don't think the difference is big enough to warrant scholarships (or at least, not the huge fucking ones I'm seeing get handed out), but even if they do, it seems like men would be the ones (statistically) that should be getting them.

That doesn't make sense. Because other men got to go to college when other women didn't, that makes current women underpriveleged? I can understand claiming women are worse off than men in the workforce, because the whole "75 cents to a dollar" thing is an actual stat. But as it is, more women are going to college than men, and the women are paying less.
