I think this mostly applies to relationships:

Girl makes mistake/causes a problem="I'm sorry forgive me and lets never talk about this"

Guy makes mistake/causes a problem="How dare you hurt my feelings! I will now proceed to be mad at you for 2 days-a week and than we will talk extensively about the situation even well after its dead"
This made me lol! This is a bad thing, I'm at work and look like a crazy person now.

Okay, most of the women in my office get fixed shifts citing child care as the reason, this includes no weekends. Then when there is overtime available at the weekend they're fighting over it.

And;

Guy wants day off at work for nieces birthday - NO WAY! Girl wants day off for friends-neighbours-cousins-penpals kid - SURE THANG!

I once had a co-worker get a day off for her sisters co-workers wedding...who she barely even knew. I tried to come in 30 minutes later because of a class and it's a serious "no!" I actually literally facepalmed myself in front of my boss when that happened. (and yes my co-worker gave the honest reason to why she was taking off).

There are still australian [sic] states that can convict you of rape.
No. In all Australian states, the term of your incarceration is sexual assault. You still raped someone, it is simply written as sexual assault.
While Australia redefined it in the 80's, some states since have redone their laws effectively putting the rape conviction back on the books, South Australia is an example of this. The court will convict you of rape, your record will list rape and while there may be some document somewhere that will list it as a sexual assault that does not change anything else.
Also, I assume you dont literally mean "the term of your incarceration is sexual assault", because the term of incarceration is usually several years not just the duration of a traumatizing moment in the shower, although sometimes that would be a little poetic.

You're missing the feminist perspective on that whole concept. He *is* a rapist who got off, because he was accused, and all rape accusations are always legitimate. You see, both sides will agree that those reporting sexual assault charges frequently lie, the primary difference being that the feminist side will claim that they lie about everything except being the victim of sexual assault which they are incapable of lying about. Any *other* parts of their statement however could be lies to make the account sound more like what they believe the evil patriarchy will accept as a "real" account and thus might not be entirely honest. That way, it's only a false charge if you can positively prove that no such crime has ever been committed against them by anyone at any point in their life, and unless you can meet that standard then the accused is a rapist who the law failed to rightly convict and you hate women and are contributing to the rape culture if you believe otherwise.

A similar "not exactly a double standard" that bugs me:

There are plenty of scholarships related to your race and gender, but it's all one way. Minorities (in the Politically Correct sense of the term, not a regional one) get plenty, as do women, but if you're a white male, clearly you've never suffered hardship, and clearly your parents have enough money to pay for college, so you don't get a scholarship, *****. Now fuck off.
It's just another example of Affirmative Action, which is itself largely a series of unfair double standard. The whole point is to try to counteract subjective unquantifiable "oppression" by giving said minority groups explicit and easily quantifiable "advantages". Because you see, equal opportunity *isn't*, minorities need to have superior opportunity because their ancestors were given the short end of the stick though we can't measure how much is needed nor for how long it will be needed aside from looking at outcomes. Even when outcomes suggest that current Affirmative Action is beyond sufficient, you are a filthy racist/sexist/whateverist if you suggest that they be scaled back.

For example, 57% of those admitted to college are female. By their own reasoning, this means that the college admissions process is unfairly slanted in favor of females (or it would, if it were possible in their eyes for anything to be slanted in favor of anyone other than straight white males), accordingly by that same logic Affirmative Action is necessary to slant college admissions to be more male oriented than it is currently. Which will not happen, how dare you suggest it you filthy misogynist.

At it's core, Affirmative Action is saying "You can't compete with me at $AREA unless you are given advantages in comparison to me. I should then pretend you are my equal at $AREA despite my being held to a higher standard than you."

This isn't really a double standard, just a friend of mine being really stupid, or weird... He says it's okay for his girlfriend to cheat on him with another girl but another guy is unthinkable! ... I should probably add that just about everyone else I asked (and myself included) find it equally as bad no matter what gender they cheat with. I guess it's just a double standard exclusively to this kid.

I've noticed a heavy influence of male-vs-female on this. "When guys do this and girls do this" or "girls do this but guys can't do this"

Honestly this thread is kinda..depressing. But anyways, my favourite double standard is with my work. Customers can be rude to me but I have to be polite back. HOw's that fair? >.>

That's true, society is a huge part of women not being able to walk around shirtless. In some African cultures, for example, women walk around without a top on and breastfeed their children in public and nobody bats an eye about it. I'm not one of those type of guys who walks around without a shirt when it's hot, and I probably actually fall more in line with your second to last paragraph, not really wanting to walk around shirtless at a beach/pool but feeling stupid if I don't, because guys are supposed to.

I didn't really think about it in terms of temperature though. Generally when I see a guy walking around without a shirt, normally I tend to think "What a douche" moreso than "Oh, it must be hot out". But true, my own brothers take off their shirts when it gets hot out, so I can understand the want to be able to do so. And that really is too bad that women can't. I mean, I guess a woman could walk around in like a sports bra/shirt or bikini top, but even then it's not the same (plus they'd have to worry about possibly being stared at).

It really is kind of weird that breasts have become such a oversexualized and romanticized thing. I mean if you want to get "technical", it goes back to primitive instincts, and men wanting to find someone who would be able to nourish their potential children. But for the current culture, it makes no sense. And I totally agree btw, I don't see how breasts could "corrupt" a child, and anyone who thinks so needs their head checked. Sorry if I gave off that impression.

And no worries, I didn't think you came across as angry/aggressive. And it's nice to get a female POV on the matter, too.
Don't worry, you didn't come across that way, I just fancied a debate.

Sadly, you're correct about women not being able to wander around in bikinis as a solution. Even when I was totally confident about my body I felt self-concious and overexposed because, Hell, that's just how I am. It'd be the same if I was a guy, I'd want to stay fully dressed.

OT: This isn't as serious as most of the posts in this thread but,
A low-quality game developed by a large company sells terribly, so it must be a bad game.
An low-quality indie game (with the same level of publicity) sells terribly, it's underappreciated.

I'm not slagging indie games at all, and I'm not generalising (I know it isn't always the case) but it seems to me that a lot more people will leap to the defense of a small developer than one of the 'greedy sell-outs' if either happens to produce a sub-par experience.

For males, either they can't be raped at all, it's a subject of mocking and laughter, or just punishment for some discretion.
There was even a L&O:SVU episode in which two men were sexually assaulted and branded (with the words "Ruiner" and "Traitor" respectively) by a woman. She gets caught red-handed en route to attack her third victim. By the end of the episode they had gone full "just punishment" route and were apologizing to her for her needing to serve a short sentence for two counts of trespassing. She was of course happy enough at the severe punishments given her victims for sexually assaulting her 14 years previously.

The internet, as a whole. Seem incapable of objective discussion. You just try discussing lactose intolerance amongst racial demographics. The number of African American that are able to swim. Hell try having a civilized conversation about immigration.

You will be met.... on BOTH SIDES. By extreme zealotry, ignorance, assumptions, personal insinuations and cliched response. Instead of intelligent, succinct, astute, articulate and rational discussion.
I'm surprised by the lactose intolerance thing. It's a simple genetic mutation whose prevalence is more or less determined by the proportion of your ancestors that were animal herders. That's why it's rare among Asians except those of Mongolian descent -- less prevalence of animal herding means less likelihood to fall back on milk when there's a slim crop means less likelihood to starve if you can't handle milk means less prevalence of that particular mutation (most mammals stop producing lactase when they're weaned and are by default lactose intolerant). It's comparatively common among those of European descent though. The same lines can be seen regarding lactose tolerance in cats and the habits of humans where they are descended from, for more or less exactly the same reasons. I don't remotely see what's so controversial on that one.

Christian religions that state you have to accept Jesus to get into Heaven, when Jesus is the (supposed) son of God, who last time I checked had a big rule about Who's Number 1.
This is gonna be quick and dirty (aka lies) so that you don't say something this ignorant again.

Jesus and God aren't separate people. Jesus is the part of God that God decided to send to Earth to get our shit together.

The First Commandment has to do with (paraphrased): "Have no false Idols, None Before Me"
So wouldn't a man saying he's the embodiment of God on Earth be a false idol?

That Homosexuality is (becoming) accepted as a perfectly natural, and valid sexual orientation, but paedophilia is, arguably, one of the most vilified things in society, and is considered a mental and moral sickness like homosexuality was in the past.

I find that fascinating from a moral philosophical standpoint.

Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man, he can't be a false idol if he is actually God. In worshipping him you are also worshipping God.
There is the popular picture of the Shamrock used to represent this, The Shamrock is made up of a single leaf, its leaf has three compartments, but they are all part of the same leaf. When God said you shall have no other Gods before me, he was talking about his full self, that included God the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit.

Meat eaters/vegitarians. When i have a vegitarian over for dinner, i respectfully ensure they have something suitable and nice. When i go to their house i do not get cooked a burger or steak but have to eat there crappy vegi food rubbish.
The problem with this is that if a family is all vegetarian or vegan, they may not even have meat in their house. Also, the term "meat eater" or carnivore isn't very correct in describing the households of people who eat meat. They tend to eat both meat and veggies therefore are omnivores. If they truly were meat eating carnivores, then it is unlikely they would have any veggies in their house and therefore cannot provide veggies to a vegetarian guest.

I lived in North Carolina for a few years and some of my friends were what the media would call fundamentalist Baptists. They were surprisingly normal, constantly wanting me to attend their surmons and shit, but they also got together to watch mma and shit like any normal social group. Someone can believe in ghosts or aliens and the fact that I don't doesn't make me dislike them. Why do you look down on people who believe in god.

It sounds like your just trying to be a literalistic troll because you clearly don't understand the underlying basics of Christianity despite supposedly coming from a catholic school. The holy trinity is that Jesus, God and the holy spirit are one being so worshiping one is believing in all of them. When you praise Jesus you are thanking god for his earthly sacrifice, when you are thanking god you are thanking him for creating everything, when you thank the holy spirit you are thanking him for guiding life on earth.

That being said I'm not very religious. I believe a God could exist, but I don't believe in a soul or any permanent being that is "me" so a heaven seems a little far fetched.

Being naked is natural. So is multiple partners for the human race, but running around with your dick out and marrying multiple women is illegal.

It's natural and therefore should be legal isn't a strong argument. Murder, rape, and ostracizing the mentally handicapped are all natural human actions and cancer is a natural progression of cells.

Something being natural doesn't mean much.
