My two favourite female singers are Maria Brink of In This Moment (she's the best scream/singing combo I've ever heard) and Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil Women I rate after those two are Sarah Brightman, Charlotte Wessels (Delain) and Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy). I prefer metal vocalists to those that can JUST sing, but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I'm ashamed to admit that I also think Celine Dion has an excellent voice.

Siouxsie and the Banshees here, Siouxsies songs are very unique sounding, Peek-a-boo for example features backwards playing instruments, 4 different microphones being used for her voice and accordian playing

I will say that her music can take some getting used to.

Natalie Dessay (classical singer, i love her "Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen")
