Favorite female characters in gaming.

I'm inclined to say Shepard from Mass Effect but that wouldn't be exactly fair as the character is tailored by player actions and has the potential to be thoroughly unlikable (albiet she's always a strong female lead, which is a plus).

On the note of BioWare, there is however Bastila Shan (Same voice actress, too!) in Knights of the Old Republic, and on the note of Star Wars there's also Jan Ors in the Dark Forces saga (How often do you get a female love interest in a game who makes a habit of saving your ass rather than follow conventions?).

Top favourite might have to be Cortana though. I can't really say why, there's just something about the character as a whole. Voice acting, the fact she's actually helpful and has good writing behind (most of) her dialogue, it all meshes together into a very likable character. Pretty, too.

Aaaugh yes, this Zero Suit stuff is driving me nuts. Before that most the fan art for her was considerably awesome with the occasional racy thing thrown in. Now I'm seeing a much higher rate of smutty art all because of that stupid Zero Suit, it's driving me nuts!

It's made me sad for The Other M since Team Ninja had to give Samus a rather ridiculously sized chest in the previews I had seen. Especially when you consider that it likely wouldn't fit in the original power suit if you pay attention to the profile. But hey, desire to make a female character a sex object usually trumps logic these days :|

I always liked Olga Gurlukovich as a character, she was an enigma in the Plant chapter of MGS2. My jaw physically dropped when she died.

Same goes for Claire Redfield (minus the enigma) plus she's not a bad looker.

In terms of ohmygodhawtnessiwannabangyou though I'd have to say Ada Wong, or for a little less exoticness Elena Fisher.

Ah, the greatness of being 12 and first seeing Ada Wong in Resi 4 sure brings back memories...

I first played RE4 last year, when I was 23, so it was my first encounter with her. I know the dialogue and plot are terrible in that game, but it's also got a sense of parody in itself which makes it okay somehow. That combined with the fact she is gorgeous just do it for me.

I am however fairly certain she is a praying mantis wearing human flesh and would kill me after or during mating, but it would be worth it.

I actually prefer her when she has more clothes on. One of the biggest things that annoyed me about the show (and the games) was that she dressed like a cheap stripper from the 80s, and none of her co-workers ever made an issue of it - when she puts on a pair of pants, she's actually a lot hotter and less out of place.
