Really? Really? God no. Brawl is, by far, the best. Melee's AI gets waaay too cheap (they corner me and edge camp), the characters are overpowered, and the graphics seem too plain.
Wait, the graphics are the same! Which is just sad for the Wii but Melee has better gameplay but Brawl has Solid Snake so it's a toss up.
No, the graphic are quite better. It may not seem that because they only detailed things that needed to be detailed, and most things didn't. The gameplay is pretty much the same, just Brawl has more game types. Stamina (a personal favorite), mini, spicy, metal, etc. And you can mix them. That's much more than Melee had. So yes, Brawl is better.
The only graphical difference I remember is the updated Zelda characters LOL. As for the gametypes, the only one I need is Stock with items off and preferably on Final Destination, that's the man's way to play. Plus IMO, Melee just handles better.

Normally I'd side with Mortal Kombat, being as it kicks the face off anything that tries to contend with it... BUT as of late I have found nothing more enjoyable than many hours in front of the TV with friends playing Super Smash Bros Brawl, eating Chinese and laughing at Wario's farts.

If you want challenge: Mortal Kombat!
If you want to have fun with friends while drunk: Soul Calibur or Tekken!

Soul Calibur. It's the easiest game to pick up. I just wish it had some sort of story to it.

Very hard to pick just one. At first it was Soul Calibur, but recently Street Fighter, Tekken and Virtua Fighter have been catching it up. Recently I played a number of fighting games back to back and I was really obvious what each one did best; Street Fighter probably has the best controls, Virtua Fighter has the best balance, Soul Calibur has the best art style, animation and visuals.

If I had to say or be shot, I'd go with Soul Calibur, because the fighting system is easy to pick up and hard to master, the fighting looks and feels amazing, I like the character roster, and I loved the create a soul feature in SC4, and now wish every fighting game had that feature.

Gotta be Tekken, one of the most fluid fighting games made. The wide range of characters with their different range of styles make for some epic fights. Kazuya Mishima vs Eddy Gordo was one of my favourite match ups.

Roll On Tekken 6!!1

Power Stone. 4 Player beat the hell out of each other by throwing chairs, other people, giant rocks, and more. Who doesn't enjoy a good game where you dash for gems and turn into a giant Rock monster or a Djinn or Steam-punk Gundam?

Honourable mention, Virtual Fighter for all it's counters and A.I. based off arcade players.

Super Smash Brothers (melee's best).

For the hilarity and the fact you get to beat up your most hated nintendo characters.
Exactly. Plus it isn't too complicated and supports four players. Man it was fun with friends.

Edit: Shit I forgot one. Marvel vs Capcom (2 was the best). Damn I loved that series of games.

Any bonus points Brawl might have gotten get removed for some of the most horrible rubberband AI in any nintendo game, the extreme cheapness of bots(outside of rubberband ai problems) and the lack of any real change in AI since SSBM.

DOA simply for the pure flow and speed, made mashing almost impossible against good players or the AI set as high as it would go punishingly hard.
