Final Fantasy IV has the same kind of deal. A secret Developer's Room in the Dwarven Castle.Cheesus333 said:In some of the Pokémon games, you can meet a few of the people on the development team. In the game world.
They will talk, to your character, about the game that they made, that they are in. I really don't know how that's supposed to work but Goddamnit I love it.
now that you mention it, it does seem familiar. I just forgot about itSaltyk said:I think there was a better moment in 3.dvd_72 said:One of the Jack and Daxter games. I think it was 3.
"This isn't a game", prompting Jack and Daxter to look at the player.
Jak and Daxter meet up with some of their allies to discuss their next battle plan. I can't remember all the details, but I do remember Daxter saying something along the lines of "Let me guess. It's all up to Jak and me." To which they respond no, they're gonna have someone else take care of this.
Suddenly, Daxter explodes with how he has a contract and this is going to ruin his shoe deal. Which made me laugh. Not just because it was fourth wall breaking, but Daxter was complaining about NOT doing a mission.
First time that happened I shut off my xbox thinking it crashed.bulldogftw said:Batman: Arkham Asylum, The bit where it looks like your game has crashed but it was only Scarecrow fucking with Batman.
Wait... Scarecrow never breaks the fourth wall in Arkham Asylum. The game is awesome, but what has this got to do with the original question?Scorched_Cascade said:Batman Arkham Asylum's Scarecrow sequences are my favourite. They're trippy, fun and I hadn't seen anything like them before outside the realms of comic books.
I reset my xbox twice until I realized it was scripted. And I only realized because i left the xbox on while I was looking for disk cleaner.bulldogftw said:Batman: Arkham Asylum, The bit where it looks like your game has crashed but it was only Scarecrow fucking with Batman.

And the Mario bit in AC2 is not an example of breaking the fourth wall.
Maybe I have a skewed definition of breaking the fourth wall, but I still don't agree that any of these are examples of this.Scorched_Cascade said:Well I didn't want to get spoileriffic but:ScoopMeister said:Wait... -Where the game glitches your screen to make it look like the game is broken.
-Where the game restarts the beginning but batman has swapped with joker
-when joker kills you (use the middle stick!)
All scarecrows fear gas
I'm sorry, but none of the fear gas sequences do this as far as I can tell.Speaking directly to, or otherwise acknowledging, the audience through the camera, in a film, play, television program or video game, is referred to as "breaking the fourth wall."
You missed the much better one, a little later on in the game. When you first take the cab out of Santa Monica, you get ambushed by a bunch of vampires. They knock you down, quite prepared to start ripping you apart, when one turns around to face the screen and says "Those in the first row may get wet!"Michael Brunson said:Okay what are your favorite moments in all of video games that break the fourth wall. I will add one stipulation. No Metal Gear Solid Moments. Metal Gear Solid breaks the fourth wall multiple times a game.
That being said my favorite is in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines When you talk to Rosa and have here read your fortune. One of the lines of dialogue is "whether or not you win the game matters not... it's if you bought it" Nice way to subtly chastise pirates.
