Flight Officer Rawley, call sign FOE HAMMER!
she's may fav, because of this line > "that's right, we deliver"
also because she ferries master chief quite a bit I felt a connection to her, when she got shot down that really pissed me off.
In this order:
Captain keyes: Badass, who was so awesome that his child helped save humanity, and was still considered the other Keyes.
Sergeant Johnson: Everyone loves the token black sergeant, who is a badass but dies. He was awesome incarnate.
The Australian Marine: Dude was hardcore. Dude was Australian. 'Nuff said.
Foehammer: The other black person in the Halo series (funny that, they both died by the end...) Died way too early. She was likable, more so than the rest of those bloody pilots, took 2 banshees to shoot her down, a well aimed pebble could manage the rest of the air force.
I liked a few other characters but the characters I mentioned were just more enjoyable. When:
Cortana got lost to the covenant I barely cared, but when Johnson and (the real) Keyes died I almost bloody cried.
And while John is rather awesome, same as can be said for the other Spartans, I still felt a bit unattached to them. They were great, but a lot of the time thye just missed that key human component.
Well, most Halo 'fans' nowadays probably dont know who the hell I am talking about, but Captain Keyes is definatly one of my favorite. No, not Miranda, but her father.
(to explain, most people who say they are Halo fans are either multiplayer only people or never played the first thus would not be familiar with this Halo 1 only character)
Kurt, from ghosts of onyx, because of his instincts being the best outta all the Spartan's.
Edit- Thanks i can do the tags now.
Kurt was awesome cause the fact that his gut could piece together information that people would normally overlook and make that a basis for his strategies. His Green team beat Johns Red team in most of the skirmishes they had because of this ability.
but his death was the most noble of them all, as he blew up a massive covenant army with the support of all the ghosts of the dead Spartans that he had personally trained since they were 4 or 5.
That's hard to say. The novels were fantastic, better then the games in every way. Keyes comes to mind, with all the kick ass he pulls off, but Kelly, Kurt, and Dr. Halsey were characters I loved reading about, especially in Ghost of Onyx. (On a side note, someone needs to give Nylund an award for such quality.)

I'd agree, but mainly because of his role in the novels. Anyone else on this thread apart from me and Kiutu ever heard of Sigma Octanus IV? That's where it's at, baby! Oh yeah!
Ahem. Anyway, yeah, Jacob Keyes. Also, probably the Arbiter (underrated, yet as seen in Halo: The Cole Protocol he has such an intersting backstory) and Cortana (she's smart, sassy and a pseudo-naked holographic hot chick. What's not to like? Ahem.).
Avery J. Johnson definetly. What more kick a*s character in a game can you get now days. But if i'm going to choose one of the novel characters, then it would be Captain Jacob Keyes but it's a difficult choice.
