I QUOTE NOW!

"That ship hated me" he said dejectedly, indicating the police-craft.
"That ship?" said Ford in sudden excitement. "What happened to it? Do you know?"
"It hated me because I talked to it."
"You talked to it?" exclaimed Ford. "What do you mean you talked to it?"
"Simple. I got bored and depressed, so I went and plugged myself in to its external computer feed. I talked to the computer about at great length and explained my view of the Universe to it." said Marvin
"And what happened?" pressed Ford
"It committed suicide," said Marvin, and stalked off back to the Heart of Gold
As mentioned previously, I also loved the Whale-N-Petunia bit.

People might hate the movie, but remember that much of the script was originally written by Adams himself. However, after his death, a number of changes were made. Some might hate it for being different from the books and radio plays, but I enjoy it by following Adam's logic.

Any changes between the publishings of the books would be handwaved by the fact that there are an endless amount of universes with slight changes in them, meaning that all the inconsistencies are occurring in different timelines.

"Oh look. It's another one of those self-satisfied sounding doors."

Hmmmmm!

Also, Arthur trying to make tea. :) "... produces a liquid that tasted almost, but not entirely, unlike tea."

Man I miss his writing.
