I believe it was The Storm where the Flood are all around you in the ruined city. It's like Ravenholm with Flood instead of Headcrab Zombies. It doesn't change the fact I nearly blew a gasket doing it Co-op and trying to keep my friend alive whilst simultaneously trying to do the same for myself. I barely got though, partly because it was on legendary.
"I... I helped them, that it. Maybe, maybe I should help myself?..." That it was delivered by the same voice actor who played the pistol marine in Halo 1's swamp level just made it all the creepier.

The Milkman Conspiracies - Psychonauts
SOOO twisted, but oh so clever and fun.

Lungfishopolis - Psychonauts
"Freedom!" Nothing liked destroying a city run by lungfish. Not to mention the fight with Kochamara was the funniest boss fight ever. (HARD TO AVOOOOID... AREA ATTACK!)

Route Canal - Half-Life 2
The first half is, "AAAAAAAH! RUUUUUN!" The second half is, "TAKE THAT, SUCKAS!"

Trailer Park - No One Lives Forever 2
Surprised no one's mentioned this one yet. You're fighting ninjas. In a trailer park. WITH A TORNADO APPROACHING.

Carentan Counterattack - Company of Heroes
The first time I played, the Nazis were just one minute short of destroying my HQ. Nothing compares to epic like that.

Bar - Prey
You're in a bar. You whack some guys with a wrench. Hey, what are those funny green lig- ALIENS! AAAAAAAAH! Put that to the sound of "Don't Fear the Reaper."

Our Common Fiend - Half-Life 2: Episode 2
The epicness of 5 Striders attacking at the same time cannot be measured.

Halo 1-
That mission where you have to destroy the three generators. On Legendary, its so fun. Its challenging enough that I feel badass, but not so difficult that it turns into the level: One Shot, One Kill on Veteran in CoD4.

Company of Heroes- the first time you defend against the Axis. I think there were three bridges to defend. Anyways, the only man surviving that mission was my sniper in the church tower. Best moment in a RTS...evar. I kinda felt bad due to my sucky commandeering.

Half Life 2- The level after you save Barney from the snipers. After you clean out the Combine HQ. Having striders fire upon you when you're sprinting, trying to avoid their bullets is FUN. Counting your rockets while hiding behind a wall while the striders fire upon you is always fun. Trying to reach the next safety point without being torn up by Striders is also fun.

Halo 3 (OMG?!)- The last level, really made me reminisce on Halo 1's warthog scene. I guess this level was meant to give the gamer a sense that the Halo series is finally ending. To tell the truth, I felt a bit sad. Not many games give that kind of feeling, imo.

The level in Operation Flashpoint, not too far from the beginning, where you're ordered to take a town in Everon, only for command to radio in and announces a full retreat is in progress, and for everyone to doubletime back to Morton, and THEN the shit hits the fan.

Or possibly the mission straight after that, avoiding every Soviet from here to Moscow trying to get 5kms in 15 minutes, crawling...sprinting...driving at high speed through a Soviet tank column. Best designed level I've ever played... except for the fact I made it to Morton on time once...and no one was there...

I believe you mean Carentan Counterattack. That's what CoH does. It shows that you suck, but you can improve.

So many....

The original Tomb Raider's middle levels (from St. Franis Folly to Tomb of Tihocan) were where the game really took off. Standing on Midas' hands and turning into gold was the very moment I knew that this game was something very special. And the cistern stage was doing water-based puzzles long before Ocarina of Time's Water Temple.

The Second Level from Metal Slug 3: exploding zombie vomit. Enough said.

Hill Top Zone in Sonic 2: Best. Music. Ever.

Sanctuary Fortress in Metroid Prime 2: One of the most amazing, elaborate, trippy Geiger-esque locations imaginable.

Haunted Spaceship in Super Metroid: Every level in that game was an absolute joy, but this miniature section had some of the most interesting puzzles and was easily the creepiest stage in the game.

Ninja Gaiden: The underground temple where you battle that huge skeletal dragon was immense fun.

Sky Temple in Twilight Princess: It looked absolutely gorgeous, and it had some satisfying puzzles. Just like the rest of the game, really.

Have to echo the Cradle from Thief 3 - tense stuff, and those juddering lunatics were a special kind of sinister.

And that's all I can remember for now x

Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney: 4th case (with a certain prosecutor accused of murder) There are some real edge-of-the-seat moments there.

Judge: Unfortunately, Mr. Wright, I don't see any room for further doubt. Will the defendant please take the stand.
Phoenix: No...NO!....
Judge: I hereby declare the defendant...
GUILTY.
Judge: He will surrender to the court to be held at a higher court in a month's time. This court is adjourned!

Witness: WAIITTTT!!! I SAW IT!!! I SAW THE MURDER!!!

That entire case takes so many twists and turns...I shouted a silent "WHAT?" several times.

I'm gonna have to go with the ending part of Mass Effect in the Citadel... The Mako's grand entrance was probably the most badass FTL thing I've ever seen.

Here's one I doubt will be too popular: the water temple in Ocarina of Time. It has one of my favorite boss fights of all time, and it's beautiful. Of course, I've never run out of silver keys.
i thought i was the only one! that's my favorite dungeon from any game. normally you look forward to playing the boss, but for me it's the water temple. after that, the game isn't as fun since i've completed my goal haha.

getting ghillied up in CoD4 was the best level in the game.

Rhen Var Harbour in Star Wars Battlefront. Incredible fun with units and tanks alike, places to hide and go seek, Exterior & Interior battling, and glitches for the whole family!
