I don't understand the hype about katanas. To people that have answer "katana", what exactly is the appeal? :\

Couldn't tell ya, but my pick is (are?) the Shaolin Twin Hooks closely followed by the Katars. Those weapons kick a lot of ass. ^_^

They look cool, longswords are generally favored, which a katana is an exotic version of, they are elegant, very strong, and also japanese and used by samurai which themselves are very appealing. A good portion of its love is the last bit. Many people who say Katana are likely anime/manga fans too.
