Thanks to all the people who recommended REPO: The Genetic Opera!

I was wandering around the local WalMart today looking for movies to entertain my gore/explosion-hungry stereotypical american mind and I found REPO for only $13 in 16:9 widescreen!

I haven't seen the entire movie yet, but it's awesome so far. Kudos to everyone that loves it! :D

Castle of Cagliostro. Only me and a friend of mine who knows of Lupin the Third, are the only people that I know of who've watched it.
You saw it too? High five!

I saw it a few days ago and loved it. But it was by Miyazaki, of course it was going to be good.

Not sure if its obscure or not but, Time After Time has H.G. Wells chasing Jack the Ripper through time to 1979.

Saints and Soldiers was quite a good World War 2 movie.
The Woodsman was excelent, if depressing

And I know Leon isn't really obscure, but I don't know anyone else who has seen it.
Saints and Soldiers?
Did that have Mel Gibson in it?

I think I might have it on DVD....
No, it did not have Mel Gibson, but it is a really good independent WWII movie. Considering the budget they were working with, that group of film makers got tons accomplished.

Personally, I think Eraserhead is a great obscure movie. Maybe people have heard of it, but until you experience it I don't think you even have a clue about this film.

For obscurity: The Guyver live action films (Mmmm... cheese...)
For Weird : Tremors
They are quite good especially the second for David Hayter one but the first one does have Mark Hamill

Lawnmower Man 2.

All right, all right, I haven't actually seen it, but I can tell from the title that it would be my favorite.
Man that film was terrible every character says the words virtual or cyber at least 50 times if you took a drink any time anyone said either of those words you'd die of alcohol poisoning before you got to the halfway point

Also I've seen a lot of the Lupin the third movies as well as some of the tv series but I can't find the live action movie made of it in the 60's

Few more suggestions
Creepshow
Tales from the Darkside
Firestarter
Necromicon
Cool World
Flight of Dragons
Fantastic Planet
Light in the Piazza
7 Hills of Rome
The Last Supper
The Blue Max
Catseye
Nightbreed

transmorphers.

the only reason it's my favorite is because it's the only obscure movie i've seen, otherwise it's a shit-tastic movie, but with one good plot twist, which still does not make the movie any good.

Short Circuit. I've loved that movie ever since I first saw it.

I once had a girl at work tell me "i watched a movie called "Ginger Snaps" last night, and it made me think of you." I could never figure out what the hell that meant, because A) I'm a dude and B) probably not a werewolf.

Really good movie, though!

Also i desperately want to see "MOON"!

I will throw one out there and see what people think: Danny Boyle's "SUNSHINE". I have yet to meet anyone else who has seen it, yet it's one of the most gorgeous science fiction films i've ever seen.

Anyone else experience that one? Does it qualify as obscure?

Oh man finally someone else who has seen "Sunshine". That is one of my favorite films ever. That last line was the perfect way to end it, a truly great movie.

And I'm also desperate to see "Moon", I've been aching for a new Sci Fi film.
If you like this kind of stuff maybe you should check out "Defying Gravity", it's this new series centered around a voyage through the solar system.

Anyways I guess my additions to the obscure movies here would be:

1. "Stay" by Marc Forster, starring Ewan McGregor and Ryan Gosling
2. "A Scanner Darkly" starring Keanu Reeves and Robert Downey Jr.

Very few people I know have seen them and if they have they didn't understand them.

So far this thread is mostly well known films, or indie films with a still strong following. I can think of only three movies that could qualify as "obscure" and everyone should see for one reason or another.
1) Hard Candy
2) Requiem for a Dream
3) Elephant

Look them up, watch them. I don't demand you understand them, but they are profound.
Requiem for a dream is a hard one to wrap your head around. It tooke me a few runs to really get it.

My sugestions for great flicks that may be "obscure" have to be Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. Jim Carry is awsome in that one. Also Black Sheep is outstanding (Its about zombie sheep. Nuf said)
black sheep is amazing.
i don't know how obscure it is though. i saw in at the cinema, and own it on dvd
