Seriously, I have yet to come across anyone off the internet that has heard of these. :/

Wizards by Ralph Bakshi. Watched it when I was ten years young. Blew my head off.

Top Secret. One of the best spoof films ever made.
Oh yes, I loved that movie. It's so full of absurd surreal jokes and scenes that you can watch it over and over again and spot something else you didn't see before.

Also I loved Monkey Shines, Six String Samurai and Ginger Snaps. All of them were movies I found on a shelf and loved every second of.

Requiem for a Dream and Hard Candy. Two of my favorite movies that almost nobody I know knew what they were. And I guarantee if you see Hard Candy, you'll have trouble ever watching Watchmen again.

Southland Tales - A satire by the director of donnie darkp
In The Mouth Of Madness - A great little lovecraftian horror film by John Carpenter
A boy and his dog - A post apocalyptic film about a teenage boy and his psychic dog
Crying Freeman - A stylish action flick from the director of Brotherhood of the Wolf and Silent Hill

Doomsday and Shoot 'em Up. Those are obscure, right? Because most people I know never heard of them.

Pink Floyd's The Wall

Everyone knows the album, or at least Another Brick in the Wall Part 2. However, not a lot of people know that they made a movie out of it, and that it's incredible.

It's very surreal, and with its use of images and music to tell the story rather than dialogue, it isn't for everyone, but I love it wholeheartedly.
Agreed. The Trial is probably one of my favourite sequences.

Damn, now I've got to come up with something. All I can think of that might be obscure, if only for the fact that it's not recent, is Scent of a Woman. It stars Al Pacino as a blind man. Very convincing too, in my opinion.

Escanaba In 'Da Moonlight, or maybe Tideland. But Escanaba In 'Da Moonlight is more fun to watch; Tideland is a really fucked up movie.

Allright. Got some good one's here for you...

1)Black cat, white cat- Romanian gypsy ganster/Romeo + Juliet
2)A Scanner Darkly- With Crackhead Downey Jr, Winona, Keanu + Woody
3)The Super Revrend Monk- A Chinese Kung-fu flick with AWESOME special defects
4)Teenage Cat Girls in Heat- An old Troma where girls get sexy, then kill the guys...
5)Beverly Hills Vamp- A horror/comedy where the geek saves the day
6)ANYTHING done by Peter Jackson prior to Lord of the Rings ie. Bad Taste, Braindead and Meet the Feebles!

What's more, they're all worth watching.

Both of those movies were huge controversies at the time. Pretty much anyone who was alive at the time of their release is familiar with them, and most people who like adult (if you can call them that with a straight face) animation are aware of them, as well. They're both widely available on DVD, and Heavy Metal actually had an even worse "reboot" ten years ago and has been released on a special anniversary edition. For the record, they both suck something awful.

OT: I'd probably have to say Crazy People. It's a movie starring Dudley Moore as an advertising executive who has a nervous breakdown and starts making "honest" ads (example? "Jaguar: For men who want handjobs from women they hardly know). It's basically one joke for the entire movie, but it's a funny joke. Hilarious, but it made very little money and I don't even think you can find it in distributed (meaning not ripped) print on DVD.

Repo! The Genetic Opera
Klay World: Off the Table
... That's all I've got, sadly enough. I can't remember seeing many other obscure films. Unless the Stupid Mario Bros. Movie counts. But that never saw commercial release, so...

A Scanner Darkly[/b] - If you haven't seen this go do this now! Amazing performances by Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr, Woody Harrelson and Winona Ryder.
That is one awesome movie, I was so happy when it played at a theatre here and my wife and I decided to check it out.

Run Lola Run, a German Film, is about all I can think of.
Another amazing film I decided to go see in theatre because I was taking German in highschool.

Most all my other favorite obscure movies are Troma Films and I don't necessarily like them because they are good. Cannibal: The Musical, Sgt Kabukiman N.Y.P.D., Surf Nazis Must Die, The Toxic Avenger, Tromeo & Juliet... great films if you want to spend a night laughing. The "indians" in Cannibal: The Musical had me laughing for a good week every time I thought about it.
