Restrepo gets my vote. It came out this year yet nobody knows it exists.

I worry about some of you people...

ob·scure (b-skyr, b-)
adj. ob·scur·er, ob·scur·est
1. Deficient in light; dark.
2.
a. So faintly perceptible as to lack clear delineation; indistinct.b. Indistinctly heard; faint.
c. Linguistics Having the reduced, neutral sound represented by schwa ().
3.
a. Far from centers of human population: an obscure village.
b. Out of sight; hidden: an obscure retreat.
4. Not readily noticed or seen; inconspicuous: an obscure flaw.
5. Of undistinguished or humble station or reputation: an obscure poet; an obscure family.
6. Not clearly understood or expressed; ambiguous or vague

Now, maybe it is because I am almost 30 but 9 out of 10 of all the movies on this list I know, maybe not SEEN but i know. A good number of them i wonder just why you think their obscure. Red Dawn? BLUES BROTHERS? THE PRINCESS F*#$(*$ BRIDE? DONNIE DARKO?????????

Now I have a friend just a few days older than me who led a sheltered life and i am introducing her to the "classics" such as The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, and eventually I will get her to The Godfather (no she has never seen The Godfather, or Ghostbusters for that matter)

So you want obscure? How about..... The Legend of Hell House? Not Good Enough for you? Then try this on for size... Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!

And for the record, I think The Room leeds to being out of Obscure just for the fact every comedic reviewer I've seen has some form of a Room review that was threatend with lawsuit.

Neil Gaiman + Dave McKean + Jim Henson Company = Beautiful CGI, a compelling story, original ideas that really shine. Plus, it's incredibly well acted.
It's hard to say what really is obscure though. As I'm sure this wasn't intentionally as small as it became (and to be honest, I have no idea how popular this movie was).
Mirrormask was a great movie! It was so surreal that the next day, I swore it was a dream. I decided to look it up to prove myself otherwise, and it was in fact a movie. A great one at that!

The Dark Backward. It's about a garbage man (played by Judd Nelson) who wants to be a stand up comedian but is terrible. One day he wakes up with a third arm growing out of his back, and he's convinced to use it in his act. It makes him popular, but stuff happens and life doesn't go quite how he plans.

Has ANYONE else ever seen this? Noone I've spoken to has even heard of this film except the dude who showed it to me.
I bought a used (and nearly worn-out) VHS copy of that movie many years ago. Pretty sure I still have it somewhere, but the tape is so damaged it's damn near unwatchable. I'll tell you one thing, though: That's one SERIOUSLY F---ED UP movie! (And I will buy it on DVD some time.)

On topic: "Zítra vstanu a oparím se cajem"! Translation: "Tomorrow I wake up and scald myself with tea". This is a Czech sci-fi comedy involving a group of Nazis who, with the help of anti-aging pills, have managed to stay alive long enough to see the invention of time machines. These are now widely used for time-tourism, allowing tourists to see Columbus discovering America, what the Pyramids looked like when they were new, etc.

The Nazis are planning to hijack a time machine, travel back to 1944 and present Hitler with a hi-tech bomb which will help him win the war. They have planned everything down to the tiniest detail, and secured the services of a very experienced time machine pilot.

However, on the day when the plan is supposed to take place, the pilot accidentally chokes himself to death on his breakfast, and his identical twin brother decides to take over his identity. Unfortunately, he thinks the Nazis are just ordinary tourists out for a quick jaunt in a time machine, so they end up in 1941 instead.

In 1941, Hitler sees nothing but victory in his future, and he certainly has no time for a bunch of loons who show up unannounced with some crazy story about a time machine. The pilot's brother and some of the Nazis are able to escape back to the day before they set out, and the Nazis quickly start preparing to rectify their mistake. They start out by assassinating their own doubles, and of course the pilot's brother, and then they set about stealing the time machine again - ensuring that they get the right pilot this time.

However, the twin has survived the assassination, and immediately sets out to save his brother. Unfortunately, he fails to do so, and when the Nazis contact him (absolutely convinced that they've got the right guy this time) -

- well, THAT'S when things start getting crazy!

Heavy Metal and Fritz the Cat come to mind.

Seriously, I have yet to come across anyone off the internet that has heard of these. :/
I've actually heard of both. Heavy Metal shows on VH1 Classic sometimes and Fritz the Cat was once the wikipedia article of the day.

OT: Oldboy. Literally no one I know has heard of this movie, despite it being one of my favorites.

Død Snø - A horror/comedy movie about some Norwegian kids going to a sky lodge to get hammered and to sex it up. Then nazi zombies appear and shit hits the high gear. Good humor, and it's very gory, like an 80's style slasher.

Clerks - Most of us geeks know it. Some out of the geek area know it. And everyone who has seen it loves it. I would say Clerks 2 as well, but it isn't nearly as obscure.

Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl - A Japanese Humor/Gore movie. Great fun, and isn't too saving on the fake blood.

It was mentioned on the first page, but when I read the title of this thread, I instantly thought of Six-String Samurai.

It's pretty well know as far as I know. Sure, it isn't as well known as the newest triple a movie from Hollywood. But it is widely know, at least among the internet. And I know a couple of people who have seen it, and I live in Iceland.

Sure it's well known by the internet, but everyone I asked has never heard of it. You can't really get it without going on Amazon, and no one really watches foreign movies anyways. Perhaps just my group of friends, but the only other person who has seen it had it given to him by me...

Well I know two other guys that have seen it. And that is a good number of people seeing as how I am pretty asocial.

I have a feeling if you tried to initiate a conversation about Oldboy with any person, chances are they wouldn't know what your talking about. But it's probably your group of friends. I really don't hang out with people who watch foreign movies, so that's probably why.

Fido. Well, Fido and possibly Dead Snow if only for the absurd factor.
I have Fido on DVD! But I dunno where it is. And I've seen the trailer for Dead Snow.

OT:

Toxic Avenger.

Pretty silly.
