Although you probably could have deduced what I wanted to know from the Thread's subject, what is you favorite Pokémon game, and why?

My favorite has got to be Crystal version for the GBC, mainly because having both Kanto and Johto to explore made the world feel really vast and complete. Also, I thought the detail in the sprite animations for each Pokémon (not present in Gold and Silver) was a nice touch.

yellow. it was possible to actually complete it, and you could catch all pokemon on one system, rather than trading all the time.

My favourites has to be the original Red/Blue/Yellow. I just prefer everything from that game, especially the starter Pokemon. I would always choose Charmander and a ridiculously overlevelled Charizard. It is also my favourite for the nostalgia rush that I always achieve when I put the cartridge in my yellow Gameboy colour and see the opening screens.

Gold/Silver/Crystal.

I love the region and the pokemon that the game has. Plus some of the towns were really cool and actually had their own characteristic about them.

Also, Cyndaquil is the shit.

Emerald has my favorite "campaign", but Black/White have my favorite mechanics, and Platinum has my favorite post-game.

So...Black/White, I guess.

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. I feel that it had a really really good plot, I liked all of the starters, and they were the most innovative of all of the games. Double battles, contests, battle frontier, not too many retarded looking pokemon, and I think everyone has to agree here, FREAKING SWEET LEGENDARIES. Actually, you dont have to agree, that was just me being cocky...

Soul Silver was my favorite, because it's a remake of the Gold/Silver/Crystal generation, which was my favorite until Soul Silver/Heart Gold added some new stuff. Basically, it takes my favorite in the series and adds better graphics, and who can complain about that? :p

My favorite part is that the time system is used so effectively, it hasn't been used to the same potential in other games. It made it all feel so much more real.

Haven't finished Black yet, but it's looking to be a close runner up.

Gold, because it was back when I was a kid, and much easier to captivate with all the sparkly lights. I also liked the visual design for the Pokemon most in that generation. I recently started playing White, and I don't like it as much as the others,

Its a tie between Gold and Diamond (more like 2nd and 4th generations)

For starters they both brought the most to the table
They also had the best pokemon IMO

Yellow. Me and Pikachu = BROS4LYF.

Plus I could get all the starters without save scumming.

4 Starters and Nidoking the ultimate team.

Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness for the Gamecube
Mainly because it was different. The double battles were interesting, the plot made some ammount of sense, and the villians, shocking for a Pokemon game, were COMPETENT.

I hate that flying rat bastard too.

OT:

I like Emerald the most, I really like the starters. Oh, and Wailord, can't forget that bigass tank.

Well, it really depends, I can find things every generation did better than the rest.

Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal for sheer glee and nostalgic value, with G/S/C getting bonus points for having a much bigger world and, well, fixing the absolutely broken gameplay of Gen I.

Ruby/Sapphire for being the last games I've played unspoiled by the internet, which as I've learned with D/P, really undermines the experience. Emerald also has IMO the best post-game with the Battle Frontier, to this day still feeling like the better incarnation of the concept.

HeartGold and SoulSilver for reaching (again, IMO) 4th Gen gameplay perfection and recapturing the charm of the original while still managing to feel fresh.

Black and White felt unlike any other entry in the series, and would top my list if it wasn't for a really poor post-game section.

So, in conclusion, Diamond, Pearl and Platinum were the only ones not to leave a particularly strong impression on me, although that could be in part because of how spoilered I was going into them. Watched gameplay videos and everything. Never again.

Ultimately, if I had to choose, it would be a tie between SoulSilver and Black.

Oh, yeah, also this. It's surprising how many people seem to dislike those.

Red because NOSTALGIA.

Or ruby, because it still had decent Pokemon and had a good island.
