Psyshock is okay, but it's really banking on surprise if you aren't carrying an actual special move. That's why I always dump a coverage move on alakazam to run both psychic and psyshock. Of course that's assuming you ever end up walled by a threat that running psychic over psyshock could have dispatched.geK0 said:Psyshock!!
Because I just love when people using a jellicent, snorlax, chancie, blissy or other special tank think they have my alakazam or espeon cornered and I just 1 shot them with physical damage!
Also because the original Abra card used it before it was in the games

I assume you run the standard Life Orb? have you though about running a Specs set? While all of Alakazam's moves have one type of pokemon immune to them (ghost, dark, normal) The ability to nail key threats with the kind of damage that makes the difference between an OHKO and 2HKO can be very satisfying. Of course I run a similar set with my Chandelure, which also gets great synergy with my Breloom to get that flash fire boost.geK0 said:I always have a hard time choosing between Psychic, shadowball, focusblast, calmmind and psychic, shadowball, focusblast, psyshockhim over there said:
but Alakazam has a hell of a time setting up with calm mind anyway unless he's up against a pure special attacker or a wall. So sometimes choosiing psyshock over calm mind pays off.
I usually use the Life Orb, just because it's so easy to switch to a dark or steel type, and I hate being forced to switch out..... switching into a physical attack with foretress though could give me a good opportunity for some spikes/toxic spikes though... hrrmmm.him over there said:I assume you run the standard Life Orb? have you though about running a Specs set? Foretress. Foretress is my worst enemy ever right now. Chandelure is my only ghost type so save for a few it isn't going to block most rapid spinners. I run a super bulky Deoxys Defense to "stop" rapid spinners. I can set up all day so it isn't a bid deal if they blow hazards, I run rocky helmet so they take 1/6 damage for each rapid spin and I also run toxic and knockoff in order to stall. But foretress sets up his own hazards and can't be poisoned so I have to go to chandelure and get him out of there asap.geK0 said:I usually use the Life Orb, just because it's so easy to switch to a dark or steel type, and I hate being forced to switch out..... switching into a physical attack with foretress though could give me a good opportunity for some spikes/tosic spikes though... hrrmmm.him over there said:I assume you run the standard Life Orb? have you though about running a Specs set? Answer stolen in the very first post, damn.Sean Hollyman said:What is your favorite Pokemon attack?
Mine has to be Sky Uppercut. Even the name sounds cool.
Enemy flying? Well shit, it even hits them.
All deoxys except deoxys defense are Ubers. In fact Deoxys defense is Borderline. The mini uber tier for pokemon that suck but break shit in UU.geK0 said:Wait, defensive deoxys is allowed in OU? Appaently it's the typing that's holding it back. Tyranitar messes it up pretty good and it's like one of the most used pokemon, especially for a lead which is often deoxys d's place because of setting up hazards. Scizor does a number on it too. Also Shuckle does get stealth rock, it lost its edge mostly because of the new sleep mechanics so it's screwed if it's phazed.geK0 said:It seems a lot like a shuckle with an actual move pool (oh if only shuckle could stealth rock)him over there said:All deoxys except deoxys defense are Ubers.
