Someone shows appreciation for the Tales series

In retrospect if Final Fantasy Tactics is being counted I should mention the King's Bounty series, which is some of the best turn-based hex-style tactical gameplay I've ever experienced. Seriously if you even remotely like that sort of game go buy and support the King's Bounty series, it's brilliant!

I loved Mount and Blade but i have to say, i just hate, really really hate lances. They are really just doing damage if you have a horse and even then if you time the hitting moment perfect. Sure if you're good you can knock one enemy out with one hit, but i always prefered a two handed sword on the horse.

This might sound shocking to most people but I actually somewhat enjoyed Skyrim and all the other Elder Scrolls I've played for its combat. However, the games I've enjoyed combat most in an Rpg would probably be Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Also, my impressions of Kingdoms of Amalur or at least the demo in terms of combat is overall good but I wish the archery combat was more like Skyrim or maybe Fable where you actually have to aim to hit the target instead of it auto targeting units for you. It would of added some challenge and depth to it.

i love the growlanser combat system. it's hard to explain, but it's tactical without a grid, and not turn based; everything happens in real time, but you can pause as often as you need to micromanage what everyone is doing that moment to adapt to the situation.

the star ocean combat system will always hold a special place in my heart, too.

Easily Demon's/Dark Souls for action RPGs.

Kingdom of Amalur looks intersting, especially with all the different class builds available.

I loved Tale of Symphonia's because I could actually participate. I like hands on like that. The only RPG I've been able to like with turn based combat is pokemon.

i really love the system from dragon age: origins. Nice overview of everything, and just those sexy kill animations xD.

Temple of elemental evil, and Icewind Dale 2. Great tactical games that I wish we would have seen more of instead of endlessly replicated action games...

Anyways action RPG: Mount and Blade if you consider it an RPG, or Dark souls.

If you can nail couching lances, you can do massive damage with one shot. It's a pretty risky maneuver, but it's so satisfying. It usually will instantly kill the horse and the person riding it.

When it comes to turn based combat I love the one they use in Final Fantasy X. Last time I mentioned it I got attacked by some elitist claiming how easy the game was, but I can't say I care about that. I had a great time checking the attack order, slowing down tough mobs and killing off the weak ones that were gonna attack next.

For action I'll go with what many already said; Demon's/Dark Souls. Not much to keep track on, and we're all thankful for that considering how much the game hates us.

This, I've had a lot of fun with that game.

Also,I like Fire Emblem, and Dragon Age Origins' combat was pretty good, Bioware just didn't do a good job with the enemies' stats.

Button Mashing=Kingdom Hearts series.

Turn-Based=Legends of Legaia 2, because krazykidd reminded me how enjoyable it was to put in random directions and suddenly unlock a new special attack *PUNCH IN RANDOM DIRECTIONAL COMBINATION, CHARACTER REELS BACK AND YELLS* "RAGING FANG!!!" *Brings down devastating multiple hit attack on enemy*

Action/Adventure=Mass Effect 2.
