If we include mods, probably a tie between Steel Legion, Daemonhunters and Tau from Dawn of War.

Also, the Xenomorphs in AvP: Extinction. Such a unique and fun race to play.

Hmm...

Obvious choice is obvious, I suppose.

I take it that by 'superior' you mean 'overpowered'.
And I take it that by "overpowered" you mean "absolutely pathetic." Man Yuri was a wuss. Not sure why he even bothered. His army might as well have been guys throwing rocks at me.

Hey look! I indefinitely shut down your entire power system with a single flying unit!

Hey look! I mind controlled your buildings!

lololololol

Hey look! My gatling turrets basically render all your air units useless, as well as all V3 launching units! And they can slaughter infantry as well!

lololololol

So yeah... they were certainly the 'superior' faction.
More like:

"Hey look! My anti-air defenses shot down your pathetic UFOs before they could get close to my power plants!"

"Hey look! My various long-range defenses killed your silly mind control unit before it got close to anything important!"

"Hey look! Your gattling turrets aren't fast enough to take down multiple rockets launched at the same time! Or I can just bomb them with Kirovs because they suck at taking out Kirovs! Or I can send in my tanks because they can't do a thing to tanks! And god help you if I'm the allies, as you have NO defense against Prism tanks!"

Honestly, I can't believe that any player with even the tiniest bit of skill at the game could have any trouble whatsoever taking on Yuri's pathetic army of gimmicks.

rome total war: seluceds (oh, you killed my giant armoured elephants? well here come my uber pikemen)

empire total war: spain for the most powerful early game ship in the gallion

warcraft 3: undead for shear weight of numbers through rase dead spell

starcraft 1: zerg for the shear fun of it

age of empires 1: i always went with egypt.

age 2: England, those longbowmen were so over powered

age 3: england again cause there was a card that gave you shitloads of food realy quicky, which then leads to huge amounts of musketmen

endwar: Europe for their nice mobile army.

Halo wars: covernent under truth. there are few things more fun than teleporting 20 building destroyers into the enemy base.

supreme commander: aion, cause they get the giant flying mothership which you can fill with strategic bombers

dawn of war 1: i never realy had a favorite faction, though i did have a soft spot for the necrons and the tau.

thats all the rts's i can think of that have factions.

The forum ate my post so I'll keep it short because I can't be arsed retyping it. So I will just answer your points in sequence.

"I did not consider that you may have anti-air defences! I may have to not fly straight into them like a retard. Or, say, cracking a single whole in your defences in order which will allow to effectively cripple your entire base. For as long as I want."

"Dude. Magnetrons. Solves both those problems."

"Apparently you are ignoring my actual point, which is that Gatling Turrets are far more cost efficient than anything the Allies or Soviets have for defence. Certainly they can take down far, far more missles or air-units than Flak Cannons or Patriot Missles could, and neither of those could chew through infantry as well. And have you forgotten that gatling turrets increase in speed over time, allowing them to tear through Kirovs as well?"

You seem to be working under some assumption that you can build up as much as you want before going after Yuri, whereas naturally he will not undertake any action towards you before you're ready. Did you only play against the AI or something?

Honestly, I can't believe that any player with even the tiniest bit of skill at the game could have any trouble whatsoever taking on Yuri's pathetic army of gimmicks.
Classy.

First

also, Soviets before Red Alert 3.

They had a class that only EA could ruin.
Red Alert 3? Whats that?
Oh you are joking of course, Red Alert 3 never happened.

Content:

WC3: I hated melee, so I choose the cake race.
SC & 2: Zerg all the way!
C&C - NOD (C&C4 never happened)
C&C Generals: GDI
C&C Red Alert: Soviet (some times Yuri, but most often Soviet)
Age of Mythology: Set (Sometimes Isis)
Team Fortress 2: BLU (..Oh wait)
Populous - Blue Shaman (Everyone was the same really.)
Dawn of War - OOOOOOOORKS!
Company of Heroes - Germans.
Emperor: Battle for dune - I seriously do not remember anything else than the name from this, but it was worth writing because its such a great game.

I guess thats.. For now.

Cybrans of both Supreme Commander games and the Germans in Civ games. Give me a choice between them with no extras, or another faction with resource/gold bonuses, and I'll drop the bonuses.

Every good faction.

Artreides in the Dune games,
Terran in SC1/2,
GDI / US / Allies in Command and Conquer (Tiberium/Generals/Red Alert)
Americans in Comapny of Heroes, specifically Airborne commander.
And Britain in any total war game.
Oh I forgot BFME Games! Gondor for BFME1, Dwarves for BFME2.

Dawn Of War: What's better than the Emperors finest Space Marines (grey knights led by chaplain anyone)?
Total War: hmm tough choice between The Brits naval power in Empire and Rome's House of Julli cohorts.
Supreme Commander: The unstopable Seraphim, have you ever seen a fleet of Ahwassa comming your way?
Always loved playing as the Protoss in SC2 simply because carriers own nearly everything.
C&C Series: Hmmmm im torn between the USA in Generals for the Commanche and the Soviets in RA1 for the mammoth tank.
Age of Mythology: Norse, which ever God (i think Odin) let you have both fire and frost giants.

Hmm what else...

oh yes..

Necrons from Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War is my absolute favorite faction. They're a race of living machines that obliterated all life in the galaxy once before, and they'll do it all again. Why? Because the C'Tan demand it. They're like a virus- No, more of a galactic plague that can never be cured. I think Sovereign said it best: "You progress because we allow it. You fall because we demand it."

Outside of Necrons, I'd have to say any of the three factions from Metal Fatigue. Rimtech, Mil Agro, and Neuropa all have their own advantages, and I enjoy them all equally.

I am really just a person who takes a while to do something, and then rushes with hundreds of units.

Or, in Company of Heroes, I play as USA, or, if I'm playing the Eastern Front mod, Soviets.

Teutons: Fully upgraded Paladins do 1 damage to this 120 health unit.

(Not RTS) Grit: I love indirect attacking units in Advance wars.
And when the Mongols come screeching down? When it's teutonic knights vs manguadai, there is only one winner.

C&C 3 Kane's Wrath: GDI Faction with da Mechs (Steel Talon, was it?)

Dawn of War: TAU (Because they have Mechs, COOL LOOKING MECHS (the other races lack class ... and little doggy dawgs)

Starcraft 2: Terran (MEEEEECHS!)

C&C Red Alert Triiii: Japan .... they have Mechs toooo :)

Supreme Commander: That's hard. Everyone had Mechs. I hate Robots, so ... suck it, Cybran Nation.

Loved it. Damn you EA for destroying Westwood. Hold on, did it has MECHS? because it's been so long.
