I used to love C&C, and honestly, I still enjoy the early ones (Gold - Tiberian Sun), mostly because fucking with the .ini files was FUN (seriously, in Red Alert, we had NUCLEAR SPIES. And spies that shot dogs that ran across the level and THEN went nuclear. Good times. Ballistic Tanya was funny too...)

I really enjoyed StarCraft too, but mostly because I really enjoyed the units and characters (and stimpacked Firebats).

But then I played Total Annihilation.

And then I played Supreme Commander.

No other FPS comes CLOSE. Well, Homeworld does as far as scale, and number of units in battle, but it doesn't have nuclear weapons. I love the feeling you get when you think you have a GIGANTIC MONSTER TANK, and then you zoom out and realise, oh wait. I can't see THAT anymore, but what the HELL is THAT?! as something even MORE massive stomps its way across the map. Good times. I just wish I had a stronger PC and more monitors to get the full thing going. =D

I LOVE the C&C universe!

However, Total Annhilation also sucked up MANY hours of my time as well.

Honorable mention: Homeworld 1 and 2

Just putting it into Discussion, does anyone really play AoEIII like they did AoEII? I always thought AoEIII was a massive letdown.
Yeah, I probably played several thousand hours of AOE2, but the third.....no. I just couldn't enjoy it.

World in Conflict, with pretty much no competion, though Company of Heroes are close behind.

Advantage: Story, nukes and a controll system that are created for FPS tards like myself.

Company of Heroes!
Destroying a well built defence in a glorious and awe-inspiring Blitzkrieg assault, crushing puny men under perfectly engineered German steel tracks. It just never gets old.

If I'm being predictable, then it must be Age of Mythology, no questions asked.
1 - Commanding an army of Colossi with the ability to eat trees is WAY too fun
2 - excellent campaign
3 - Rule of three...rule of three...erm...it completely messes up the mythologies of three civilizations by sticking a new character in the mix. Yeah.

If I'm being less predictable, then Cultures 2: The Gates of Asgard.
1: It's a very unique take on the genre, what with the people actually being people, not "units".
2: It's the most sexist game I've ever played... wait that shouldn't be a positive
3: The narrator is Sgt Cortez from Timesplitters. I kid you not.

Seeing as the only two real-time strategies I've played are Stronghold and Pikmin, I'm going with Pikmin.

The Total War Series, followed by the Homeworld Series. For no other reason than I enjoy them more than the competition.

Myth II: Soulblighter (by Bungie. Yeah, THAT Bungie) is by far the best RTS I've ever played. I'm far more partial to the actual tactics part and not so much the resource management. Although I do like AoE II quite a bit.

Personaly I've always had a soft spot for dungeon keeper 2!

I'm just sad that they never made the third chapter (Damn EA)

It even had one of the best intro's of all time!
Ah, Dungeon Keeper 2. It's good to be bad.

OT: I was doubting between Age of Empires, Warcraft and Command & Conquer, but that was before I was reminded of Dungeon Keeper 2.
