hmmm Starcraft then warcraft 3, Company of Heroes, Dawn of War

I am concerned about Starcraft 2 because looking at it, it doesnt have much that i am lookin for now in RTS's

i mean sure it has good graphics, but thats pretty much it

Dawn of War pioneered the cover system, and it had great graphics, also it was truly epic in the sense of huge battles of many units because of the squad system, and also the amount of customization of squads and vehicles that u could suit them to ur needs

CoH took it too the next level by adding realistic motions, great AI, destructible buildings and terrain, weapons that u could capture.

then SubCom took epicness to the next level :)

I mean also SC2 looks like it has a great physics engine, from what it looks like i think it wont compare.

that being said, i loved SC1 so im still lookin forward to SC2

I'm going to go for:
Homewold 1: Great Skirmish, A campaign that was an exercise in getting your arse handed to you.
Red Alert 2: Yuri's revenge: Still have it installed now but don't play it much, loved the customisable skirmishes.
Rome - Total War: I know alot about the time period and so am disappointed by certain aspects but overall a brilliant epic game.
(Looking forward to Empire total War)
Supreme Commander: Not seen the forged Alliance addon yet.
Most badass of all, although not the best, has got to be Warzone 2100 - Researching, designing and building your tanks. The ability to create massive bases with epic fortifications. Massive maps with wars of attrition in mind, ability to assign aircraft to radar towers for automatic destruction of all who come near, just brilliant, and with the best campaign ever.

Spontaneous award ceremony:
Biggest - R:TW
Shiniest and most polished - SC
Most instantaneous accessibility - RA2:YR
Most swirly space battles: Homeworld
Most balls to the concrete wall badass immersive brutal mutha game - Warzone 2100, it should also get the lifetime achievement award because its way old (1999).

Srsly, I keep seeing warcraft 3 on all these lists.

I cannot see how anyone could like such a crappy game. Its prequel was the best RTS I had ever played, and after playing WC2 for a long time and finally hearing that WC3 was coming out, I was psyched. Then I played it. WC3 is the greatest disappointment in gaming history, not just RTS. Back in the day (WC2) the horde was awesome and didn't take any shit from ally, and all of a sudden in WC3 we get this pansy warchief named thrall who decides he wants to be friends with ally and not be warlocks anymoar. Its quite shameful. Quite shameful indeed, and so is anyone else who says WC3 was bettar than WC2.

Then everyone says OMG WAR3 HAD A MAP EDITOR LOL I GOT A HARDON USUING ITLOL!

HELLO WC2 had one too. Granted it didn't have the scripting that WC3 did but still you could have hours of fun playing your own maps.

Srsly, if you're under 14, get off this board, and if you say you like WC3 better than WC2 then you're definitely under 14 and haven't played it.

I'd go will Company Of Heros. Either Dawn Of War or Red Alert would come second.

Starcraft, Company Of Heroes and World in Conflict. There are a lot more RTS's that I really enjoy, but these are my all time favorites. World in Conflict is still relatively new, but I love it's approach to multiplayer: you don't control your entire army's forces, but rather a specific division; infantry, armor, airborne or support. Each have it's own strengths and weaknesses, so coordination between teammates is key to victory.
Besides, it has the best looking nuke I've ever seen in a game.

OK, WC3 is better than WC2. Convince me otherwise. Please note that I am also in my twenties, and I even own Orcs and Humans.
Also, I don't usually give a damn about post counts, but using the "get off these boards" line with only 1 post makes you sound a bit like a fool.

I love starcraft and probably always will. If we invent quality, affordable virtual reality i'll probably play a virtual reality game where you sit infront of your computer and play starcraft. More recently I have been enjoying DOW of course (unbalanced but I <3 the 40k universe and there's some fun mechanics there), and i thought company of heroes had a lot to offer innovation-wise - i only wish they'd spruce it up a bit. That and i'm so sick of WWII i could puke.
