Technically, the first metroid games were sidescrollers, so Super Metroid.

I'm not really that big of a fan of sidescrollers, but Kirby 64 has always been a favorite of mine for all of the zany powers and the overall fun factor of it.

YES I KNOW! the Mario games are probably takin the cake on this one, but i wanted to see if anybody else liked something better. For me, Castlevania SOTN was my first and favorite. How about you?

Super Metroid was my favourite side scroller, though I have to say now I have a 360, I am really looking forward to buying Shadow Complex from XBLA.

Super Metroid wins by miles for me, runners up being Mega Man X and Prinny.

Prinny: CIRBTH is pretty good.

SUPER METROID! Snes, baby. Got that one when I bought my Snes back in the day. Most memorable console purchase I can remember.
