Oh, the excavator! AWESOME, how could I forget!? Good one, downskitty! The sickle and hedge trimmers were also awesome, and the clown's chainsaws. Really, most of the weapons in Dead Rising are loads of fun.

Gravity gun, its ingenious.
What I think is odd is that at the same time Half-life 2 was in development, the expansion pack for Doom 3 was also being worked on, and it also featured a weapon that grabbed and threw things. HL2 came out first, but the Doom people must have had the same idea at roughly the same time, given development times. Interesting coincidence.

Also, knowing what Chrysamere's from is not that big a deal for anyone who really got into Morrowind, and I also prefer the Daedric Crescent.

The Winter Blast from Bioshock, because its just so fun to freeze things and then break them apart with your wrench.

The Blades of Chaos (or Athena's Blades) from the God of War series, decapitate your enemies, create a massive explosion to send them flying, or just stab them a couple hundred times with the Lance of Furies move, all are satisfying, and fun to do.

The Gauss Gun from STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl, yeah it has one of the slowest fire rates I've ever seen, and yeah it weighs a full 6 kg, but the shear accuracy of the gun, combined with its massive stopping power makes it one of my favorites.

The AR2 Overwatch Pulse Rifle. A futuristic, yet realistic automatic rifle overshadowed by the gravity gun, yet deserving of so much praise. It's your basic goto weapon, despite the low magazine capacity (or rather, the rediculous firing rate that empty's the magazine in 3 seconds), plus a hilarous alt-fire, capable of eliminating a whole room full of enemies in a far more entertaining fashion than a simple explosion. plus, a great joke

I choose the insults from Monkey Island's sword fights.
Ah yes, the classic lines penned by the sci-fi author Orson Scott Card, writer of the Ender's Game series.

As soon as someone mentioned that Morrowind sword I thought of this. Kudos for beating me to it. Awesome sword, totally worth it.

I liked the Gauss Gun, but you don't really get until so late in the game that it's hard to really enjoy it.

I also have to add the downloadable Sonic Boom plasmid from Bioshock, it's great fun. Knocks enemies over ledges, off ceilings... pushes them away if they get to close, and does a ton of damage. I played the game over just for this (and disabled vita-chambers).

I'm glad someone else remembered it. That game's probably more than ten years old now and the sword was more like an Easter Egg than a real item.

I'm gonna come out of left field here and go with the soda cans from Zombies Ate My Neighbors, for the sole fact that they were the best weapon against those little ax-wielding dolls that looked like children to me at first. I found the irony of killing children with soda extremely delicious.

Actually most of the weapons from ZAMN were funny because very few of them were actually conventional. Tomatoes, popsicles and even footballs. There's a lesson to be taken from that: if ever you find yourself confronted by dozens of zombies, your best chance of survival is probably in your kitchen.

The Reaper from Perfect Dark was a badass gun. Chaingun ability, and if you ran outta bullets, you just ran up to the person and grinded them point blank - true rambo style.

Fly-by-wire rocket in Perfect Dark was also a hell of a lot of fun, but then again I could pick 90% of Perfect Dark's guns and go on about how fun each and every one of them was.

Super Sheep (or Aqua Sheep) from Worms Armageddon was also quite amazing, and hilarious at the same time.

Gravity/Portal gun certainly had top ingenuity of all time, but wouldn't quite be my favourite guns, but they definately merrit an honourable mention.

Needlers in Halo are a heck of a lot of fun too, especially duel needlers as someone mentioned.

Shrinkray gun from Duke Nukem 3D was a blast in multiplayer, squishing the people with your shoe after shrinking them never got old.

I don't think I'd be able to select one particular gun. Only ONE gun outta all the games I've played, and all the ingenious inventions over the years and how much fun I've had with each, it would be impossible to choose one alone.
