It's an elder dragon who takes control of BMW for the purposes of conquering the world.

I'll go for Lavos. He (she? it?) doesn't say anything, doesn't do much, but casts this shadow of hopelessness over the whole history of the world simply by existing. It's like a giant tick that sucks the life force out of an entire planet. It's probably the closest thing I've seen in a game that approaches the Cthuluesque.

I've gotta say King Bohan, from Heavenly Sword. Anyone who has seen him in action will know what I'm talking about.

He's insecure, irritable, psychotic and acted by Andy Serkis! What more could you want?

For me, my favorite villain has to be Sauron..but if you want my -purely- gaming villain, then I have to go with Dagoth-Ur from Morrowind. I don't know why, there's just something I really like about him. Maybe its how well he takes the fact that he's going to fight with you..instead of shouting "CURSES! CURSES! MY PLAN IS RUINED! I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT, NOOO!"

GLaDoS is a close second

Sindri Myr from the original Dawn of War, so manipulative and makes a great villain and has a great voice actor in Scott McNeil, shame that he was easy to beat.

Moebius, from Legacy of Kain. The only villain i ever truly hated.
(not to mention he can apparently respawn for a time after his first death).

That'd be because his master wanted him back the first time, though yes still an amazing Villain.

All that said however, I'd say Kain his only motivation for any of his time traveling, throwing his best man down a whole which rends souls and mass murder is self preservation and revenge.
