I fear this thread has gotten swept away by th current of the mainstream so I'm going to break off a little bit here and say Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die and Cory Brandan of Norma Jean. Both are incredible vocalists.

Asheru from, well, he's a rapper

Talib Kwali, rapper again

MF Doom, rapper again
Asheru is responsible for possibly the best TV theme song ever. And Talib Kwali's tracks with Mos Def are fantastic.

He didn't have the biggest range. But I still really dig Jimi Hendrix's vocals. Case in point, Little wing. I also recommend that song to people who want to hear great guitar playing and amazing drumming.

Freddie Mercury, Jeff Buckley, Matt Bellamy, Elton John, Paul Mccartney and Micheal Jackson.
Probably a lot more, but those are at the top of my head. I like singers with voices that soothe.

bono-U2- come on, the guy can sing
kurt cobain- nirvana- passion unbound
otis redding- just awesome
freddie mercury- queen- the guy had the most gorgeous voice ever
cass Elliot- the mamas and the papas- if you've heard her you'll agree
marvin gaye- smoother than a baby's behind
nat king cole- beautiful voice, even if i don't care for his music
sam cooke- same as marvin gaye
robert plant- led zeppelin- freak intensity
perry farrell- jane's addiction- not great on records, awesome live
scott weiland- stone temple pilots- i just like his voice
thom yorke- radiohead- just listen to fake plastic trees
and finally.....
jeff buckley- the best ever in my view, such a gorgeous voice it gives me shivers sometimes; its too pretty to belong to a guy. the whole of the Grace album is a masterpiece and his voice is central to that with the insane purity and clarity combined with the emotion of a rock god, listen to the title track to get what i mean. he is still sorely missed

Got two to add: Mike Patton (Faith No More, Dillinger Escape Plan, Tomahawk, and a few others) due to his sheer vocal range, and Kyo of Dir En Grey for the same reason pretty much.

Serj Tankian is amazing. I also really like Amy Lee, and Chad Kroeger too, along with Pete Wentz in Fall Out Boy. Hayley Williams is a definite favourite of mine, as is Chris Martin, especially on Lost!, Violet Hill and Strawberry Swing (their later songs are actually my favourites from Coldplay). Matt Bellamy is simply brilliant as well, I mean, how does he get those notes and everything? I tried singing along to everything on Black Holes and Revelations, I could never match that. Knights of Cydonia? Just pure excellence from Matt with the vocals on that track :D.

However, nobody can ever beat Freddie. He was simply amazing...

Tim McIlrath (Rise Against. Very deep voice.)
I'm not usually into their type of music, but I like Rise Against, largely based on his voice.

My favorites are probably Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel), Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Chris Cornell (Soundgarden), probably others...
My fav is Kevin Ruser (Lego Basement)

I'm really suprised there have only been a few female singers mentioned so far. Anyway, I like the following:
Bjork - she can sound delicate and innocent and can sing powerfully when she wants to. She has a pretty long range as well as a gorgeous tone.

Eliott Smith - while his voice isn't techincally brilliant he puts a lot of emotion into it and is really good at sounding bitter. Almost like he's singing while clenching his jaw. He's a forced singer, but the good kind.

Kurt Cobain - again, not a great technical singer but there is something oddly endearing about his voice and he had a unique ear for melody.

Morrissey - he can sing about bludgeoning someone in their bed and still somehow sound like a gentleman. 'Nuff said.
