I follow a LOT of webcomics, but at the minute I'd have to say The Adventures of Dave the Direman is my favourite. Not only is it funny, has decent characters and has Cthulhu in a Hawaiian shirt, but the site also has Everwas. Taken from the short description of Everwas: "For those of you who aren't philosophically inclined to examine life's struggles, Everwas also contains foul language, big boobs, and lesbians."

EDIT: Also Romantically Apocalyptic. It updates once in a blue moon, but when you see it you can tell why each strip takes so long. It's kind of Fallouty, and hilariously funny.

[a href="http://www.sluggy.com"]Sluggy Freelance[/a] one of the oldest and therefore longest running webcomics around. Recently just turned 14 years old. That should provide you with a lot of entertainment, their backlogs go on for quite some time, and range from silly non-serious stories to long branching narratives, all in web comic form. This was a pioneer web comic, paving the way for others that came after it.

[a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net"]Questionable Content[/a]A web comic for indie hipsters, though it's lack of pretentiousness means others can enjoy it as well. The cute and\or perverted robots don't hurt either. Lots of female characters, none of them loose, one has OCD and is ADORABLE. The art style has really evolved over the years, for the better I might add.

I'm sure you've been introduced to vg cats and XKCD, so I won't bother.

One last one, [a href=http://www.weregeek.com]Weregeek[/a], a webcomic about a guy coming to terms and enjoying the fact that he is a geek . . . but he's hunted by a group of anti-geek Hunters who want to destroy Geekdom. Oh, and apparently when he and his friends geek out, they get super powers, though most of them don't know it. Story switches between their lives in the real world, and their other RPG\cos-play games. Cute, funny, and has lots of geek quotes to enjoy.

My own which you should all go out and read.
In all seriousness I like Twisted Kaiju Theater the best. Great fun for any fan of giant monsters and the such. Plus its a photoshop webcomic which is good for some variety in how a webcomic is made.

Penny Arcade. God damn funny stuff. A close second is Order of the Stick. I really like the homicidal halfling.

Cyanide and Happiness, Gunnerkrigg Court, Girl Genius, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, XKCD, Billy the Dunce, Overcompensating, Manly Guys Doing Manly Things, Homestuck, Wondercraft, chainsawsuit, Starslip...

And that's just the section that I feel comfortable admitting on the internet.

A favorit of mine is Explosm.net or rather "Cyanide & Happiness"
I also follow XKCD.

I did spend some time reading others, but those were forgotten when I got a new computer :(

Order of the Stick. It's such a fantastic combination of great characters, story and humor.

Goblins and Girl Genius are close seconds.

I enjoy Penny Arcade, Starslip, Name Game and Critical Miss... I think my favorites are still probably Toothpaste for Dinner and Married to the Sea.

8-bit Theater was awesome beyond measure. Little old, but I still think it counts.

After that...The Adventures of Dr. McNinja. It's just...awesome. I'm seriously considering dressing up as King Radical for Halloween.

Penny Arcade is the obvious answer. But I also read:

*Awkward Zombie (The author's life, WoW, and the Smash. Bros series)

*Battlepug (A fantasy story about a vengeful warrior and a giant pug)

*Count Your Sheep (A single mother, her daughter, and their imaginary sheep friend)

*Ctrl-Alt-Del (The current storyline is the hero trying to stop a penguin from destroying
Microsoft)

*Cyanide and Happiness (Random, offensive jokes)

*Hipster Hitler (Adolf Hitler as a d-bag art student)

*Johnny Wander (Right now, the author's friend his playing her cat like a saxophone [LOL])

*Manly Guys Doing Manly Things (A space marine from the future who also runs a temp agency)

*Sister Claire (A young nun and martial arts student, who is pregnant with the Second Coming of Jesus)

*Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (Alternates between science, politics and genetalia)

*XKCD (Mainly math and science jokes)

*Dr. Cat (draw your own conclusions...)

*VG Cats (Two humanoid cats talk about stupid crap in today's pop culture)

*A Girl Named Bob (a bank teller with homicidal thoughts about her customers)

*I'm My Own Mascot (The author's black-and-white misadventures, including his recent bout with spinal injury)

*The Last Mystical Legend of the Fantastic Fantasy Trigger Star (an epic journey to avenge a torched pornography collection)

*Critical Miss (found on this site...)

*Brawl in the Family (Smash Bros. and related series)

*Omake Theater (Offensive jokes... in Japanese!)

*Plastic Brick Automaton (Warning: Ballsack)

*LOLComics (the creator of NyanCat)

Wouldn't say it was my favourite, but Worst of the Time Lords [http://doctorwhy.livejournal.com/calendar]. Makes me not hate Tennant's run at Dr Who.

My favorite is penny arcade, closely followed by XKCD. I know it's cool to hate on then these days, but I like them.

I also read homestuck, name game, and critical miss.
