Which is your favourite Warhammer 40,000 character and why? They can be from any medium Warhammer 40k has.
Oddly, search bar approved.
EDIT: Now that some people have answered, I'll tell you (yes, you) that my favourite character is a tie between Roboute Gulileman and Sanguinius.

Kharn the Betrayer. I've won games with him as my soul survivor. He is totally badass, I mean hacking through your own troops just to reach the enemy? Well awesome!

Old One Eye.

Failing that, Typhus, host of the Destroyer Hive.

Wait, can we count Chaos Gods? Then it'd be Tzneetch.

You can count anyone you want in the 40k canon.

Tzeentch it is then.

One of the coolest pieces of art design in WH40K, and the most interesting Chaos God.

Cypher.

It's almost like he's empowered by a good Chaos God or something, whatever he's involved in you know it's something big.

OFT

Commissar Gaunt is made of pure awesome. "Weep for him - for his faith was not sufficient.
Rejoice for yourselves, for my faith is bottomless! Forward, for the Emperor!

Commissar Ciaphas Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM! is a pretty cool guy as well. He was killed chaos space marines by himself.

Shas'O Kais was in Dark Crusade. Farsight was his classmate as well as Shadowsun.

Erebus: Because he is a twisted, manipulative bastard, and I love him.

EDIT: anyone else noticing a rise in 40k threads lately?
To be honest, I thought of this thread a few weeks ago and kept forgetting to make it. But, yes, I have noticed the trend.

Kairos the oracle is cool, very interesting backstory and some really cool special rules that fit his fluff.
The changeling, because he just is a shit disturber.
I guess Urien Rakarth, not too many interesting special characters in the DE dex, they are all pretty cool, but urien is badass.

Ollanius Pius, the manliest ************ you ever did see.

During the Horus Heresy, this guy showcased exactly what it means when people say that Imperial Guardsmen have balls of steel. Why the Emperor was having a dialogue with Horus, even after Sanguinius had been slain, Emps still felt that there was good in his favorite son and that he could yet change his ways, the eternally loving father that he was. As Horus advanced on Big-E, ready to strike, the Emperor did nothing, still trying to talk Horus down.

A single guardsman, no genetic modifications or superweapons (His lasgun was absent, too, so he was without even his trusty flashlight), stood in between the two Gods-On-Earth, refusing to move. Horus told him to step aside, yet Pius stood his ground. Naturally, Horus simply killed him to remove the tiny pestering man. The Emperor, now seeing that the lives of the citizens of the Imperium, especially one that served in the noble Imperial Guard, meant nothing to him and that Horus was beyond redemption.

The Emperor then proceeded to dish out the single greatest psychic ass-whoopin' the 'verse had ever seen.

Without Pius and his balls of fuckmothering Impervium, there would have been a significant difference in the discourse of the battle between Horus and the Emperor. This dude is the epitome of the Imperial Guardsman. Seriously. He steps himself in front of the single most powerful Chaos entity to enter the materium and refuses to step aside, simply because he did not want any harm to befall the Emperor. Seriously, even Teddy Roosevelt would want to get this guy's autograph.

Though, Games Workshop being retarded as they are, naturally retconned their awesome canon and replaced Pius with an unnamed Imperial Fist Space Marine, and later an unnamed Adeptus Custodes.

Regardless, he still remains the manliest ************ you ever did see.

A very informative, albeit short article on Pius: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Ollanius_Pius

A much more humorously bent article, though one that captures the patron saint of the Imperial Guard in a much better way: http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Ollanius_Pius

Zso Sahaal, the Talonmaster of the Night Lords. Lord of the Night is the best book there is in the Black Library.

Gaunt is pretty cool. I think I would like Ciaphas Cain if his position was "Colonel" or "Captain" and not "Commissar".

Honorable mentions go to Gabriel Seth, Chapter Master of the Flesh Tearers, Vulkan He'stan of the Salamanders, Cypher the Fallen Angel and Sanguinius; Primarch of the Blood Angels.

EDIT: WTF, how could I forget Commissar Yarrick? He's the most badass special character available to pretty much any 'human' army.
