I don't get why people were so shocked about Legend of Korra's scene. It isn't the first time that Cartoon Network has let shows with broader audience demographics get away with these scenes.
YES. Such badassery. The scene that beats it in my book though is the one where Mustang loses his shit and (basically) single-handedly almost destroys Envy. It's one of the best examples of a one sided fight I can think of
Oooh...Tough one. Titan A.E. and anything from Monty Oum come to mind...So I'll list my favourites from THEM.
From Titan, there's two scenes, right near the end. There's the scene where Corso uses himself as a circuit bridge, and then there's the actual creation of Planet Bob (New Earth). Both are truly magnificent scenes.
From Monty Oum...Damn,it's REALLY hard to pick. Pretty much any scene he animated for the boys at Rooster Teeth, but top honours goes to the Zero-G fight in Season 10,as well as Tex beating the everloving Hell out of Maine (The Meta),York, and Wyoming. Outside of his RT work, though, has to go to Dead Fantasy Two. The one where Tifa goes Drunken Master. Lava river. You know the one. Midair combat down the side of a tower that's probably ten kilos tall. Pure awesome.
Captcha: Easy-peasy. This choice was anything but.
Agreed. Randomly stumbled across this scene looking for something to watch, and loved it. I can't believe how awesome it is. I don't think I've ever watched a battle of this quality on CN before, except some of the anime I just mentioned.
I was very disappointed when I saw Revenge Of The Sith and they made him so weak and lame.
pretty much all of Serial Experiments Lain... it has quite the striking look... love the contrast of colorful, dark shadow mapping, over the blown out whites that seep into it's surrounding diminishing the detail during the day, it really goes to hammer away the feelings of loneliness and isolation... and the surreal, semi realistic cgi textures under neon colors at night... and look at that Funimation put up the first 3 episodes on their youtube channel...
Opening is cool too...<.<
also anything in avatar having to do with Toph being blind... because, haha, blind jokes...<.<
if we're going dbz, i have to say cell saga actually had more impact, such as cell's transformation.
(team faulconer music, since it has better characterisation/emotion through this stuff)
or gohan going super saiyan 2
and later on beating the stuffing(android) right out of him, though I can't be bothered getting the clip.
as for me, I'm really not sure what animated scene is my favourite, though i must admit that for some... perplexing reason I really like this scene.
Love the old guys design(the nose and magnified eyes XD), love the music, and something about woody getting all good as new makes me feel happy. Kinda creepy actually as i can't work out why watching that scene makes me feel so happy*.
Like, the dbz scenes i mentioned before, i can pin it down pretty easy why i liked them, cell is this twisted creature and that music just enhanced the horrific wickedness and awesomeness of his shear power at that point, and what he's just done by absorbing poor 17. Major 'oh shit' moment.
And the scene where gohan transforms, it's because 16's theme continues playing after his death, like his message has gotten through, it plays in this 'heartbreaking' manner before fading and dying off as the computer chip stops and you know then that he's dead, and not dbz dead where he just chills in other world then comes back with the dragonballs, but actual real dead cause he was a machine. Then gohan is exploding with power and becoming an ultimate baddass and Cell is about to get smacked big time for his dickery, so the sequence goes from fairly emotional and awesome buildup to another 'oh shit' moment but this time in the good guys favour.
but that toy story two scene? I don't know wtf is about it.
edit: @ sacman above: serial experiements lain, man the opening theme for that was quite good but depressing as hell, I can't listen to it too much or I start feeling melancholy :X
------
maybe one of my favourite animated scenes might be from code geass, i remember it was the first 'proper' anime (as in not, dbz/yugioh/pokemon/ stuff like that that you watched when you were a kid) that I watched, and it was awesome. Can't be bothered figuring out which scene it would be though XD
Cowboy Bebop Episode 5 'Ballad of Fallen Angels'
The entire episode was incredible, but the scene I'm referring to is the final scen in the church. If you've seen it, you know exactly what I mean.
He takes on six Jedi, two of them at least Masters, and in the space of less than two minutes kills two, wounds one so grievously (no pun intended) that the others think he is dead, and critically injures two more. Ki-Adi-Mundi is the only one conscious and even he is wounded.
Film or show, 2D or 3D, what is your favourite animated scene ever?
Me, I recently started watching Batman: The Animated Series. It's a great show and there are plenty of memorable moments, but one really stood out. Namely, this scene from the episode Mad Love:
I know this is Batman we're talking about but... DAMN. That is dark!
The opening to Lupin: The 3RD comes to mind for no other reason then it was one of the first anime-games I played.
Theres a lot more below.
Oh yeah and this. Daft Punk, I can't count how much I love you guys. This is from the movie Interstella 5555 a feature length movie featuring only music and animation, no real story telling. This is one of my favorite songs within it.
Another is the whole of phychonauts and Destroy all Humans, go look them up if you want to.
All, ALL of the TF2 Meet the Class Videos. Missing Pyro but who hasn't seen that?
This scene from Saints Row the Third stands out as the best combination of music with game.
At first I thought this video was edited, but holay shit this wasEPIC!
The entire last mission of GTA 4.
All of these are memorable to me in some way, doesn't stop them from kicking some serious damn ass.
SNNNNAKKKEEE EEATTTTEEERRRR!
Last video I PROMISE! The Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker flashback sequence, sadly Harley VS Batgirl isn't in here. This part still makes me sad, honestly.
