There is no denying the fact that music today is different to that of ten, twenty or even thirty years ago. But, no matter what, good music transcends any generational gap. And that is what this is about: those bands that may have been from before your 'time', but you still listen to and love nevertheless.
My band would have to be R.E.M, simply because their music is incredible. Well, maybe not, but it's still very good. Some people say that Pink Floyd is their 'go-to' music whenever they feel miserable, others some heavy metal, but I just listen to R.E.M. 'Man on the Moon' followed by 'The Great Beyond' defeats all!
Honourable mention goes to Modest Mouse, kinda. They were mainstream since four years ago, but 'Lonesome Crowded West' and 'This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About' are both only a few years after I was born.
