Hmm from when I was a child, it would probably be a tie between teenage mutant ninja turtles, pokemon and power ranges.

wow, this is a very loaded question... in no particular order:
-Gargoyles
-Earthworm Jim
-Invader Zim
-Pinky and the Brain
-Reboot (sorry they lost funding and couldn't finish)
-Rocko's Modern Life

I left out anime because, although animated, I would class them differently. Also, it would expand my list substantially.
Pretty much these, except taking out Invader Zim and replacing that with Beast Wars. Also, fun fact, Reboot was well received enough in Canada where it DID actually get to finish. However, it wasn't popular enough in the US to be allowed to continue airing down there.

Oh, and Digimon. Can't forget Digimon. It and Pokemon were the only anime I had available to me as a kid and I was firmly situated in the "Digimon is cooler" crowd.

EDIT: Goddamn just remembered two! Cyber Six and Biker Mice From Mars! Cyber Six managed to be totally awesome, and ended right when it had started to overstay its welcome as a series. I have no idea what happened with Biker Mice From Mars, all I remember is that it was cracked right out and some of the toys were pretty awesome.

nobody freaking remembers, do they?
I do! The toys had glow in the dark teeth and one of the bad guys had a big drill for a nose. It was like TMNT, but so filled with 90's it overloaded and just kind of blinked out of existence.

they where both great but nobody remembers them
I remember those too! The War Planets series ended up being far more entertaining than the toys that the show was meant to sell.

This may explain why I have bizarre definitions of "scary" nowadays.

My favorites are:
1. My Little Pony : Friendship Is Magic
2. Phinease & Ferb
Both brilliant, both designed so that adults can enjoy them aswell as children.
For some that hold more nostalgia for me:
1. Spongebob Squarepants
2. Fairly Odd Parents
Don't watch them anymore, but both of those cartoons were my favorites when I was a child.

Avatar: The Last Airbender easily. Not only is it a kids show, it also explores some mature themes in it too, plus the story was pretty good for a kids show also.

Honorable Mentions include:
Invader Zim
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Dragonball Z
Spongebob
Tom and Jerry
Ed, Edd, and Eddy
and Pokemon (The Kanto Reigion)

Avatar: The Last Airbender is definitely my favourite children's cartoon, followed closely by Spongebob and Samurai Jack.

Not true. Reboot was canceled and ended on a cliffhanger. It was after the two movies which were split up into episodes, the second being "my two bobs". The series did actually continue in comics, but I haven't been able to find them.

I live in Canada and actually got to meet some of the creators of the show. Point of fun, did you notice guns don't fire bullets in the first season or 2? Nothing was allowed to cause death to a character in Canadian childrens television until a couple years after they started. Then Enzo got all pimp and started fucking up everyone's day. Awesome show. And I forgot Beast Wars and Beast Machines... I have too much crap downloaded, lol.

Kinda curious why OpticalJunction got a warning for Angry Beavers. It was a good show. Also Freakazoid and Earthworm Jim.

This one. I also love The grim adventures of Billy and Mandy

The rest of my favourites include The powerpuff girls, Dexter's lab, Ed, Edd n' Eddy, Hey Arnold!, Pokemon and Digimon. I still watch these cartoons if I ever catch them on TV, and I have several episodes of The grim adventures of Billy and Mandy on my iTunes.
