I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.
Seconded. Thus, my vote for Best Game EVARRR is the SNES. The SNES is what gaming should be for me: fun with friends, without the constant bitching.

well before this gets locked. (because they start a console war), my vote goes to SNES. Them were the days.

And, since this will probably get locked...

"Sponge Funk Rabbit Donkey Ball Cheese Manure"

thanks...

20% of the thread to yourself is quite a feat, shatnershaman.

Also, lock this over-used thread.

On-topic, the Xbox (original). Easily, for its incorporation of a hard drive.

And folks, we've discussed this before. The PC is not a console. Case dismissed.

My first console was originally a PSOne (technically first gaming platform was Gameboy) but I didn't actually start my gaming era until the PS2.

So, PS2, you lovable peice of hardware, you shall always have a place in my heart. You win my favorite console :') PS3 comes second, and I guess the PSone comes thrid because it started it all.

And so far so good, no flame war maybe there is hope after all.

I vote for the SNES, while I never had one I loved playing it. It had nearly perfected 2D and the sound was great while keeping the fun that the NES had brought in without all the crap it also had.

Although my favourite console is the DS, thanks to homebrew (the proper, clever home made kind, not the kind that goes 'Yaarrrgh!'), it's given me a legitimate excuse to take a games console to work and use it.
That makes it the greatest invention ever.

I would say PS2, but also combined with the PSone, PS1 was my first console but a lot of the PS1 games I have played were bought when I already had a PS2. In fact the first two games I bought when I got a PS2 were FFX and Hogs of War (Psone). Because I'm not a graphics whore I still look on PS1 as acceptable, even FFVI which I actually look on as a good-looking game despite the fact that even my dad (who has never played a video game in his life) mocked its graphics.
Although I am sometimes astounded by the good graphics on games on the current-gen and even on PS2 I see them as an bonus, not the main feature.

When I soon get some RAM for my incredibly slow PC I can see myself falling in love with all those games that have just frustrated me because they are so pathetically lagged.

The N64 also has a place in my heart, I only got one recently but I would love it even if the only game on it was ocarina of time.

Lately the DS has gained my love by saving me on many a boring holiday.

However the console which I have been most hopelessly addicted to is the GBC.
I spent months on it playing Pkmn Red/Gold, the Zelda games on it, Super Mario Brothers Deluxe.

Best of all time probably goes to Saturn, because at the time, it was brilliant. I had tonnes of fun with that console. Second is the first Xbox, because seven years and 89 games later, and I'm still buying software for the bastard

wow this is a hard one because each system ive owned has given me something speacil. I think ill go with the ps2 because i sold mine in december and find myself missing it. I dont feel that way about an other conusel ive had.i probally played more games on ps2 then anyother system and i think that means something. i have a 360 now and the good games are great but there seems to be less of them then there was on PS2.

If you go by Websters

"Console: an electronic system that connects to a display (as a television set) and is used primarily to play video games"

Then, I can say "Hey... My LCD screen is a displayer, and holy freaken crap... My computer is an electronic system!! (I know, it's freaken crazy!!).. What do you know, I mainly use it to play video games too... IT'S A FREAKEN CONSOLE"

In retrospect though... I used the word "freaken" too few times...

Also, I guess the definition will kind of vary, I'm not sure if you would take the "primarily to play video games" part based on the computer manufactures, or the individual who uses it.
