I will try to post stuff not posted yet. Most of the female artists and bands I like have been mentioned already.

I will mention Rasputina [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGdKhrt0svo] though as they are probably my favourite (mostly) female band. It makes me said that only one person has mentioned them and on page four.

Zoe Keating [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjQfyK65gKQ] cellist formerly of Rasputina

Devil Doll [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLrKdPOyva4] rock-a-billy/jazz/blues torch singer

Fiona Apple [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9Wnh0V4HMM] you've probably heard of her

Sheryl Crow [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CUr0bnDCfM] another popular one

The Ditty Bops [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu7289s7l64] poppy folk/jazz

No-one mentioned Be Your Own Pet yet? It's a shame they broke up.

Anyway the female-fronted bands I listen to are Nightwish, Arkona, Be Your Own Pet, and I like a few songs by the Gathering, whatever Patti Smith's band is called, Hole, Siouxsie and the Banshees, X-ray Spex, the Velvet Undergrouns and Nico, Blondie, Stream of Passion, and Best Coast, although I haven't really gotten into them yet. I might remember some more later.

I think they're absolute shite but Crystal Castles.
Alice Glass in no way can stay classy.
I would've mentioned them but I didn't really think of them as a band because they make electronic music and there's just two of them.

I don't really get the second sentence. Is that supposed to be good or bad?

Bad, poor grammar/syntaz on my behalf. It should've read: Alice Glass, in no way, can be classy.

Only two come to mind right now but both are complete win.

Who couldn't love those two bands?

Ahh, the Distillers. Solid solid punk rock band that put out three great albums and should've gone on forever.

Spinnerette I just can't get as into. Baptized by Fire however is a fantastic song.
I think Spinnerette appealed to me because they reminded me a lot of how Jack Off Jill went noise pop and became Scarling.

Also: Snake River Conspiracy, for having such a great range. I was like o_O when it turned out that one of their other songs is this.. screaming rap battle thing.

Hi all,
I'm a bit late here, but I wanted to mention 7 Year *****, Babes in Toyland, Letters to Cleo, Save Ferris...I have a lot more. I'd like to put up a page dedicated to female artists and particularly those involved in Riot Grrrl on my blog

Please submit any bands you think I should include. The info is at my blog at www.rarariotgrrrl.com. Thanks!

I'm a fan of Big Brother and the Holding Company (Janis Joplin), as well as Jefferson Airplane (Grace Slick). Then there's the Queen of Soul, Aretha, and many of her other soul sisters such as Gladys Knight, Diana Ross, and Martha Reeves (of Martha and the Vandellas).

Someone needs to mention Aimee Mann, because her name is rather ironic in this context.
