"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age."

H.P. Lovecraft, "The Call of Cthulhu"

"The only reason they're idiots, is because they're treated as idiots."

I wish there was a fictional work where somebody actually said that.

"The light that has been forgotten is waiting among our people. The power that is derived from Courage is the power to conquer the past. It is the essence of the inner revolution. The power to protect the precious is the power of Love. The powers of Love and Courage are the powers of the west wind. The hope for tomorrow. The belief in possibilities is the power of Hope. The great flapping wings of Zephyr will ultimately open Filgaia's future." - Baskar Chief

"It's true, Knowledge is the real treasure. It can help people, as well as confuse them." - Door (One of the puzzle at De Le Metalica)

"Many think that courage is power. Real power is when you surpass your own desires to protect something dear..." - Dan

"If you want to be loved by someone, you have to love other people yourself..." - Cecilia

"Humans were NEVER born to fight and steal! We were born to open up the same path TOGETHER!" - Justin

"We may sometimes travel down a mistaken path. But...it will be alright. I am sure that we will be able to open new paths to travel upon." - Col. Mullen

"Miracles... The humans' belief system that makes the impossible possible. The power that protects Filgaia. Looks like this is the end... Did I lose? No I did not... I lived the life of a Demon Warrior! I fought and lost my life... I was not defeated... I lived a life of my own dreams. I have lived... I have no regrets... I am a winner... My death is glorious." - Boomerang Flash

That's enough from me.

"Be a man!" said I. "You are scared out of your wits! What good is religion if it collapses under calamity? Think of what earthquakes and floods, wars and volcanoes, have done before to men! Did you think God had exempted Weybridge? He is not an insurance agent." - H.G. Wells; The War of the Worlds

"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write 'fuck' on their airplanes because it's obscene!" - Colonel Walter E. Kurtz; Apocalypse Now

Do you know what punishments I've endured for my crimes, my sins? None. I am proof of the absurdity of men's most treasured abstractions. A just universe wouldn't tolerate my existence.- Durzo Blint in the night angel trilogy.

Maybe not my favourite, but it's up there anyway.

Pretty much anything Hakumen say's. He is one of my all time favorite characters however if forced to choose I would probably just go with his speech.

"I am the white void. I am the cold steel. I am the just sword. With blade in hand, I shall reap the sins of this world and cleanse it in the fires of destruction! I am Hakumen! The end has come!!!"

Just to point out, I love his english voice and all but it's his Japanese voice that makes this sounds awesome.

Ahri said:
"Relationships don't work the way they do on television and in the movies. Will they? Won't they? And then they finally do, and they're happy forever. Gimme a break. Nine out of ten of them end because they weren't right for each other to begin with, and half of the ones who get married get divorced anyway, and I'm telling you right now, through all this stuff, I have not become a cynic, I haven't. Yes, I do happen to believe that love is mainly about pushing chocolate covered candies and, y'know, in some cultures, a chicken. You can call me a sucker, I don't care, because I do believe in it. Bottom line is: it's couples who are truly right for each other wade through the same crap as everybody else, but the big difference is they don't let it take them down. One of those two people will stand up and fight for that relationship every time. If it's right, and they're real lucky, one of them will say something."

Gotta love Dr Cox. He is the reason why I'm inclined to watch Scrubs if/when it's on.
"You kids use the word HATE so much that I have to find a new word to describe how I feel about others. Hmmmm... I mega-loathe you all."

My favorite Dr. Cox quote.

Also from the most recent Pirates "You're either with us or against us!"
"I'm not with you neither am I against you."
"Can he do that?"
"He's religious. I believe it's required."

One of my favorites from Lord of the Rings would probably be this exhange:

Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

That quote has helped me a lot through some of the harder times in my life.

Here's one I like. The opening to the original Swamp Thing comic.

"I cannot recall the morning anymore, but I know the evening well."

How much loneliness and tragedy is summed up in that line.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

"It was a five hundred mile journey and, surprisingly, quite uneventful. People who are rather more than six feet tall and nearly as broad across the shoulders often have uneventful journeys. People jump out at them from behind rocks then say things like, 'Oh. Sorry. I thought you were someone else.'"

"The rose is a secret their hearts keep"

-Song of Susannah, the second-last book of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King.

It desperately needs context, and trying to explain just what that rose is and why it is a secret kept in the hearts of all people is beyond a mere mortal like me. While I highly recommend reading the books, when I read that one line I just stopped and clutched the book to my chest for a line so beautiful, saying that there was something so pmagnificent, so powerful in the world that all people would die to protect it. The deepest of love for something most people would step on in all good conscience.

Hmmmm, I have several that I can think of off the top of my head.

My total outlook on life cannot really be summed up more perfectly than this:

http://www.xkcd.com/137

Bender is of course the source of my favourite Snark (which can be used in pretty much any context):

Really? Interesting. No, wait, that other thing... Tedious.

From Evanescence's End of the Dream:

As much as it hurts, ain't it wonderful to feel?

And pretty much the final passage of I Am Legend (The book, not that god awful film)

Full Circle. A new terror born in death. Another superstition entering the unassailable fortress of forever.

I Am Legend.

(It makes sense in context)

'Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that?s no matter?tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . . . And then one fine morning?
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.'

I don't get why so many people dislike that book.

My two favorites.

"You speak of knowledge, Judicator? You speak of experience? I have journeyed through the darkness between the most distant stars. I have beheld the births of negative-suns and borne witness to the entropy of entire realities... Unto my experience, Aldaris, all that you've built here on Aiur is but a fleeting dream. A dream from which your precious Conclave shall awaken, finding themselves drowned in a greater nightmare."

"Well spoken, Concubine of the Zerg. But though we strike at you from the shadows, do not think that we lack the courage to stand in the light. You would do well to abandon this attack."

I think we can all agree here that Zeratul is a badass.
