Films that come in subtitles. Films in another language. Films that are often better than most of the stuff Hollywood pumps out every year. What is your favourite?

Mine is either western The Good, The Bad, The Weird (Korea) or horror(?)Pan's Labirynth (Italian Sorry Spannish. Good spot EClaris)

Difficult. Ingmar Bergman always made something worth watching, but I think my fave would go to this one:

I swear I've seen that, but way before I hit my teens. I'll have to get that on DVD.

B-13 is dang good, awesome parkour scenes through the roof, and a surprisingly well-thought-out story backs it all up!

Seventh Seal had my vote until I saw Himmel Uber Berlin. (aka Wings of Desire)

Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky is simply a classic.

Being Russian, I'm pretty sure that counts as foreign.

I remember the first time I saw it, I was bored to tears. But I gave it another chance, and it ended up being one of my favorites.

An Irish movie called 'A film with me in it' it has Dylan Moran and is build up funny. If you want to see someone killed with a clarinet stand then this is your movie.

I'm going with Downfall on this one. A little bias, seeing as it is the only foreign film I've seen.

There was this french animation on christmas on the bbc one year, but I can't remember for the life of me what it was called. I remember it was about an old woman and her dog who go to rescue her son (grandson?) who's been kidnapped somehow that I forget related to his obsession with cycling.

It was great and really quirky, but I just don't remember the name. If anyone knows what I'm on about, I would be extremely grateful if they told me; no one I've talked to seems to remember it.

EDIT: Jesus christ! I remember! Belleville Rendez-vous, it was awesome.

seeing how it's the only foreign film I've ever seen it wins by default: "12" A Russian remake of 12 Angry Men.It's fairly enjoyable and moves fairly slow with some really interesting stories and the screwed up people who tell them. The ending is really cool and wraps things up nicely. It also has a good bit of humor to ease tensions.

Jean de Florette was amazing and when I found out that the teacher was showing Manon des Sources and I missed the first fourth due to be late, I raged so hard.

I watch a lot of Korean horror. Though I personally think better of American moviemaking in general, American horror doesn't even come close to Korean horror.

Arang was awesome. 7 Days and A Tale of Two Sisters were also pretty good.
