I have no idea if it really is obscure, but I recall that I enjoyed the Gamecube game Custom Robo when I was a bit younger. Since I've never really seen/heard anyone make mention of it ever, I suppose it's at least somewhat obscure. I don't know if it's an amazing game or anything, it's been many years, but I did have fun with it and that was enough for me.

Thrill Kill on PSX. Never got released.
A friend's older brother got his hands somehow on a copy of this game.
It was the holy grail of bloody sick murder madness.
Lil' me loved this game to death.

But if your talking about older games, than I have to say the old Pokemon Card game for the Gameboy. I remember I found it at a gamestop for like, fifty cents and I couldnt stop playing it. Not that bad either.
My copy is sitting on my bench right now... just need to figure out where my GBA went...

The Golden Sun series was one of my favourite but it was never spoken of when it was out for the GBA, although a few people here have mentioned it.
I only played the GBA games, but I'm still thinking about getting a DSi (last model with a classic cardridge slot) just so I can play GS3... Though I would probably get some other games too then :)
I'd say definitely get Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, it's a fair amount easier than the originals were but it's fun and it holds true to the style of gameplay (puzzles/Psynergy/monolithic towers that beg exploring etc.). And believe me, there's likely to be a sequel, so long as there's enough interest in GS:DD. You can play DS games on a 3DS though so only get a DSi if you actually don't want a 3DS.

I'll go with Bloody Roar Primal Fury. It was one of my favorite fighting games growing up, and I still love the shape-shifting mechanic.

I have a couple:

I know this one has gained a fanbase recently, but a lot of people have never even heard of it. It's a great, very bizarre horror/comedy type game, with a great design and monsters. Definitely worth a look.

Pretty neat sci-fi shooter. I'm not sure what I'd compare it to, but it works very well on it's own. Sad thing the sequel was canned...

More of an atmospheric FPS/Adventure, with a great atmosphere. Gameplay is a bit clunky, but there's nothing else like this game out there. Definitely worth it for the story and very surreal world.

Despite terrible sales, this was a really cool game. While it looks like any sci-fi shooter, it's actually more like a puzzle/adventure game. It's got some great gameplay and a good story to back it up too.

I mean, c'mon, it's like a sci fi minecraft mixed with borderlands where you can build ALL THE WAY INTO ORBIT.

You're wrong.

OT: I'm going to second Croc 2. That game was awesome (well, at least I remember it that way).

Probably Croc 2. It's a really simple platformer, but when you're 6-7, it's a lot harder than it looks in the video.

Hey I remember Croc 2, seriously that game was the shit when I was about 6-7. My one is probably Battleheart on the IOS. I know there is a lot of debate about whether these are real games or just casuals, but I have logged so many hours into that little baby that I had to mention it. Were I to say a game with a proper console/pc release, it would most likely be Star Wars: Republic Commando. While it was mentioned above, I will stress that it was so fucking cool, if it had just been longer it definitely would have scored a series.

Edit: I just remembered, my favourite game would be Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, gameboy advanced version and PC version. Seriously that game was so fucking fun, me and my friend would play and beat it nearly once a week we loved it so much.

Well, to me the big selling point to the DSi would be its backwards compatibility, as in playing my classic/color/GBA games on a backlit screen.

But the next part of Golden Sun is probably going to be released on the 3DS so I'd be screwed again if I only had a DSi.

Locks Quest
I picked up Lock's Quest because I loved Drawn To Life, and I wasn't disappointed. I haven't finished it yet though, it's on my 'to finish' pile... along with about 1000 other games...

007: Nightfire
NightFire ruled so hard back in the day. Multiplayer was always Skyrail or Ravine. My brother was always a sniper, I was a run-and-gun type. Good times.

Custom Robo
The first (and so far only) Custom Robo to come out here in Australia has been the one on DS, and I loved it. It's one of Nintendo's lesser-known franchises for sure. They should really make more of them...

A few of my favourite obscure titles:

A wonderful homage to the glory days of the NES adventure RPGs, packed with references to classic titles. Plays just like retro Zelda. You can also build your own character from scratch and download other people's creations.

An addictive little tower defence game that packs a surprising punch.

Plays like an old school point-and-click adventure game, but without the tedious inventory management and with a focus on small self-contained puzzles rather than narrative.

A claymation scrolling shooter, most memorable for the incredible art style- every element was hand-sculpted with plasticine and scanned in.

A puzzle game based around strategic controlled demolition. Gets quite brain-wracking towards the end.

Pocket sized RTS fun across various LEGO themes, it's a lot more streamlined than most other RTS games.

Damn, almost looks like I've been writing box blurbs for them.

can't believe I got ninja'd! I was sure no one knew my picks

anyways my two other ones were Evil Genius: a dungeon keeper-esque game where you build an evil lair for a james bond villain with boobytraps and everything.

Ghostmaster a terribly over looked game for PC where you have a house like in the sims with various sim-ish characters walking around in it and you have to strategically place ghosts and use their powers to scare the shit out of them or drive them insane.

Both these games were so original and creative that I find it really saddening almost no one played them.

Jagged Alliance 2 was one of the best games ever, especially with the 1.3 mod.

It used to be pretty popular, I think. I don't remember for certain. All I know is whenever I bring it up now, nobody has a clue what it is.

Dear God, it has to be one of the best FPSs out there, on par with the Half Life series and waaay better than the Halo affair.

The mechanics are solid, the sound work is noticeably better than most FPSs, and the story is competently put together.

Now, in my opinion, Republic Commando is the second best Star Wars game out there, and I highly recommend it both to Star Wars and FPS fans.
THIS. THIS. THIS.

SO many hours I spent on multiplayer. I did reinstall it last week and the multiplayer is soggy and clunky as fack, but by god it was fun.

OT:

First game I got for game cube: dah intro, dah fighting, dah guy who turned into an albino mantis thing but you were never sure what it was. aww yea.
