Pretty much Golen Sun. The game is perfect to me since it wasn't complicated like other games and I can save whenever I wanted as oppose to limited save points.

I can't choose exactly one but Persona 4, Demon's Souls, Dark Cloud 2, Pokemon Red/Blue rank among one of my favorite games.

I haven't played many JRPGs, my first one was probably Final Fantasy XIII, which is also my favourite. I bought it because it looked cool.
I've also tried FFX-2 and Tales of Vesperia, which weren't bad either.
I'll probably get some more JRPGs when I figure out which ones to get.

Persona 3 Portable (The storyline of Persona 3 with the battle system of Persona 4 is heavenly) and Persona 4. :D

My first ever proper JRPG that wasn't Pokemon was FFX. :) That was the game that got me into JRPGs properly.
Wow, exactly this. Amazing :D

Chrono Trigger, followed very closely by Secret of Mana. Those were the first games that made me cry by the events that take place in the game and that genuinely changed me forever, as a person.

Well if you don't count Pokemon (in which case it would be Pokemon Silver), Megaman X: Command Mission. Not the best JRPG in retrospect (not that I've played that many..) but very fun when I was 10. I found it while browsing Gamestop for DBZ Budokai 2 and I found this one. I had previously played the Megaman Battle Network games (which are still awesome) and expected something similar. I was very wrong, but I still enjoyed it after my initial disappointment.

First? FF7, I think... only played the demo, though, since I didn't like it, I never bothered with it again.

Favorite? Tales of Symphonia. In general I tend not to like JRPGs, but Tales of Symphonia is still one my favorite games ever.

People who say JRPG's have nothing but turn based combat probably haven't played/seen anything other than Final Fantasy.
It's also equally true that people who say turn based combat sucks has only every played Final Fantasy. Eternal Sonata and Valkryria Chronicles have turn based combat, but it's real time combat as well. Yet Final Fantasy's 'menu combat' gets tacked on as the JRPG norm.

DQ9, or FF6. Although, as a rule of thumb, whatever the newest DQ is at the time is my favorite JRPG.

Chrono Trigger is pretty much the only one I really remember so fondly. Excellent game back in the day. Nowdays JRPG's are mostly utter shit, save a very select few. Persona, Disgaea, etc...

It's a tie between Valkyria Chronicles and Persona 3 and 4. If I had to chose one over the other I'd go with Valkyria Chronicles (no surprise that, with my avatar being Welkin Gunther and all, eh?)

I found Valkyria Chronicles in a store in the US when I was on a vacation there, and it looked great. (I mean, it looked like WW2 mixed with anime, what was not to love?). Bought it on the spot. I guess one could say it was love at first sight if you're feeling cheesy 'bout it xD
