Its far to hard for me to pick a favourite. I guess Tales of Symphonia, mainly because it got me hooked on those games. I loved vesperia as well as the golden sun games. Eternal sonata blew my mind, I won't lie. I also like fire emblem but it depends on if I'm into it enough. I liked final fantasy the crystal chronicles... sure it was not perfect but dammit I had fun.

Final Fantasy V! Not the greatest story ever, but the combat gameplay and the job system is fantastic! I've had so much fun with that game building custom class characters. Butz as a Dancer / Time Mage with a ribbon and red shoes anyone? Faris as a devastating Monk / Blue Mage?
I love you. I love you so much. But it's Bartz, officially. Butz was a mistranslation made by RPGe.

OT: FFV and FFIX. FFIX a bit more so, but the difference is miniscule, so they're pretty much equals.

Tales of the Abyss and Vesperia, Vesperia has the single best combat in any rpg I've ever played, and is awesome for multiplayer (as all 3D tales games are)

My first and favorite J-RPG is Chrono Trigger. I used to watch my brother play it when it was brand new, and one day I decided to give it a shot. To this day, Chrono Trigger is my favorite game!

Do the Persona titles count? **looks at other threads** Yup. Good. Persona 3. (and just about every other SMT game out there).

Mine would either be the Pokemon series for the simplistic yet fun turn-based combat, or Chrono Trigger for the real time turn based combat.

My favorites are, in order, Persona 4, Final Fantasy 7, Chrono Trigger, and any disgaea game. I have not played Persona 3 yet but I get the feeling it will be on that list.

Xenogears bar none if for nothing more than the story. Oh sure, you can run to the end and treat it as a standard JRPG story, but if you look deeper, damn! Only game I've played rivaling it is the Legacy of Kain series.

Demon's Souls. What? It's Japanese and an RPG and I love it to death. And there will be a lot of dying involved, let me tell you.

Pokemon was pretty good in my opinion simple but fun is always a good principle for a jrpg though I have to say ff7 would be my favorite. But I had plenty of fun with blue dragon or whatever yah called it.

My vote has to be Persona 4. I love the characters and the story. The music is also a winner too, for example:

A close second is Persona 3:FES

Tales of Vesperia, hands down. It's the only one I've played that not only has a story I love, but combat I have NEVER gotten tired of. The battle system isn't flawless, but it is a blast.

If you count Pokemon Blue...then that was my first. if not, then it was Final Fantasy IX, which I still love to this day.
