Take any lyric from Octopuss's garden or Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds by the Beatles. Ringo, you have strange and wonderful mind.
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds was John Lennon. It's attributed to Lennon and McCarthy, but they had a deal that any song either of them wrote would be listed under both their names.

You've Got to Hide your Love Away by the Beatles is great. It was written for their manager, who was gay at a time when it was unacceptable to be so. I've actually heard it was illegal at the time in England, though I'm not English so if someone could verify that it would be nice.

However, my pick for not only best song of all time, but also best lyrical work is Like A Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan.
To be honest, Lucy was an after thought. I've always liked Octopuss's garden better, mainly for the tune so that one came into my head first.
But fair enough, I didn't know that.

Turboweekend, Wash Out

And you just keep on going
And you don't ever stop
I can shop till I drop
In your arcade of cool
I've been skipping school
I've been dancing to pop

You can stay a bit longer
I know that you can
I can see that you want to wash out with the sand

I'm so lost in you name
Like I just moved to town
I'm still stumbling around
Every turn is a trip
Every word 'cross your lips
Is a new street of sound

You can stay a bit longer
I know that you can
I can see that you want to wash out with the sand

It's all over the place,
every where, every when
any way i twill bend
You're the bug in my bed
We can sleep when we're dead
Let's do it again

You can stay a bit longer
I know that you can
I can see that you want to wash out with the sand

I really like the opening lyric to 1999 by Prince. "I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray." That's just poetic, man. In terms of the whole song, though, I'd have to go with Through the Fire and Flames by DragonForce. That shit redefined "epic".

Whatever one may think of Cradle of Filth, Dani is unarguably a master wordsmith. Here's a chunk of Haunted Shores:

Bury me in velvet dream
Lest I unduly wake
And seek to reconcile my thirst
With the cowardly tailors of my fate
Unleash mastiffs of snarling night
To overthrow, plague and burn
As slumber lures me 'mongst the dead
To scheme of my return

Here I can hold em off for a while
at least till I think of a way
to make them see what I gotta show
and to make them feel what I already know now
pour the gas all over me
light a match say a prayer and set me free
turn your cameras on this burning boy
I'll be the life of an image you can't destroy
to see me here is to pass me by
and to watch me live is to watch me die
your conscience ignored your panic spread
you're whimper in the wind that no one said
you crucify what you fear hold up to the light make it shine
the desperation in my eyes is no dim reflection I won't disguise
but you never listened too afraid to give
now I'm giving up on you
to save face and deny you've lost your chance for a better way
assassinate the threat
immortalize the corpse
write a book about the show
and sell it to the source
riddle me this and I'll share your world around
hang me on your wall and I'll bring your hurt down.

And of course the song too.
When were young it's only fun it's just the chances that you take,
Now we're grown up and we're fucked up and we make the same mistakes,
We keep repeating the same beating like it's not a choice to make,
And then we're lying and denying what we won't refuse to change.

TTFAF is basically a Vikings theme song.
Vikings kick ass!

Under the Bridge - Chili Peppers

Kaplan/Thornhill - Something for Kate

You shake my senses and raise my alarm then drift away
You can't keep up with whoever you think you are any other day
You're weightless and drifting over the sea
Black interference invading the screen
On a red line trajectory

And you change my mind again
Because what you see is never what you get
But I'll take my chances, yeah
When you come back around here again
And I know things now that I didn't know then
Well I'll second guess it

There's things that you believe about yourself that don't add up
This version of you, more like somebody else, but not enough
And now you're cutting a deal in your head
Conscience is crystal clear once again
And you lock up the skeletons

And I change my mind again
Because what you see is never what you get
But I'll take my chances, yeah
And you come back around here again
And you say that you know things you didn't know then
Well I'll second guess it

Nobody new, just passing through

And I change my mind again
Because what you see is never what you get
But I'll take my chances, yeah
And you come back around here again
And I know things now that I didn't know then
Well I'll second, second guess it
I'll second guess it

The song is pure poetry really. Actually alot of SFK is.

UNKLE (feat. Thom Yorke) - Rabbit In Your Headlights

I'm a rabbit in your headlights
Scared of the spotlight
You don't come to visit
I'm stuck in this bed

Thin rubber gloves
She laughs when she's crying
She cries when she's laughing

Fat bloody fingers are sucking your soul away...
(Away....away....away....)

I'm a rabbit in your headlights
Christian suburbanite
Washed down the toilet
Money to burn

Fat bloody fingers are sucking your soul away...

Sample from movie Jacob's Ladder :
If you're frightened of dyin' and you're holding on...
You'll see devils tearing your life away.
But...if you've made your peace,
Then the devils are really angels
Freeing you from the earth.....from the earth....from the earth

White worms on the underground
Caught between stations
Butterfingers
I'm losing my patience

I'm a rabbit in your headlights
Christian suburbanite
You got money to burn....

Fat bloody fingers are sucking your soul away.....
Away, away, away,
Away, away, away.

If you've heard the song before, you'll know that these lyrics complement it very well; plus, they're simply beautiful.

Pink Floyd, The Final Cut

There's a kid who had a big hallucination
Making love to girls in magazines.
He wonders if you're sleeping with your new found faith.
Could anybody love him
Or is it just a crazy dream?

And if I show you my dark side
Will you still hold me tonight?
And if I open my heart to you
And show you my weak side
What would you do?
Would you sell your story to Rolling Stone?
Would you take the children away
And leave me alone?
And smile in reassurance
As you whisper down the phone?
Would you send me packing?
Or would you take me home?

Thought I oughta bare my naked feelings,
Thought I oughta tear the curtain down.
I held the blade in trembling hands
Prepared to make it but just then the phone rang
I never had the nerve to make the final cut.

On September 3rd 2003,
I was softly touched by a warm Summer breeze,
There were blue tits flocking and swerving,
Well my accuracy it's quite unnerving.
I stole into a burnt orange field,
Which once was green but it lost it's zeal,
To prance and dance and sing around,
Which is not condoned in the centre of town.

Children please beware,
I'm choked with fear,
Oh children please beware,
I'm choked with fear,
Children please beware,
I'm choked with fear,
Oh children please beware,
I'm choked with fear.

And as i crunched those crispy leaves,
I walked towards a shaded tree,
To find a young girl lying there,
Drifting off without a care,
Her face was covered by a straw hat,
Happy as Larry and all of that,
Well I shouted out to wake her up,
She was skipping school in the burning hot.

Children please beware,
I'm choked with fear,
Oh children please beware,
I'm choked with fear,
Children please beware,
I'm choked with fear,
Oh children please beware,
I'm choked with fear.

And as i tried to get her to speak,
I realised that she was not asleep,
I moved her hat to find that her face was grey,
Her knickers wrapped around her ankles,
It's not funny!

Children please beware,
I'm choked with fear,
Oh children please beware,
I'm choked with fear,
Children please beware,
I'm choked with fear,
Oh children please beware,
I'm choked with fear.

Swamped in fear,
I'm drown with fear.

this song is probably my favourite song of all time.
