Favourite Manga Character

Title says it all really. Who is your favorite manga/ anime character and why. Anyone goes, hero, villain, inanimate object. Personaly, my vote goes to:

[Casual Shinji]

I don't read too many manga, but I'm gonna go with Guts from Berserk. Not too original of a choice, but he's a fantastically tragic and engaging character who undergoes many changes throughout the series. And there's a great fiery passion to the guy as well... up untill volume 23 that is.

Come on, he's the freaking official God of Gaming. How could Keima not be my favourite manga character ever? They butchered him in the late stages of the anime though so fuck that.

I guess Zenkitchi from Medaka Box is second, maybe Medaka herself post-character development then there's Kumagawa who is just amazing. His introductory arc singlehandedly raised the manga into awesome territory. For a guy who can never, ever win he sure manages to be damn awesome.

L from Death Note. He is such an unreal character but at the same time he is awesome too!

One word: Batman. He's been in manga, so he counts.


If we're only talking original manga characters, Itto Ogami from Lone Wolf and Cub. With Asparagus from Confidential Confessions as a very close second.

Belldandy. Which is kind of odd, really since I normally don't care for 'perfect' characters.

If by "manga" you mean comics? Then Ghost Rider is my favorite, especially the Johnny Blaze reboot from a few years ago.

There's just something endearing about an eccentric green haired little girl.

Followed by pretty much the entire cast of Fullmetal Alchemist and Azumanga Daioh.

Admittedly, I watch more anime than I read manga, so my options are a bit limited. However, I feel fairly confident in my pick:

Until recently, I would have gone with Graham Specter, one of the more... colorful characters from Baccano!

Then I found Fate/Zero. And with it, this guy:


Gotta love Rider. The only guy manly enough to weaponize friendship.

Choosing my favorite anime character is hard because it changes every so often.

As for manga characters...

Admittedly, I watch more anime than I read manga, so my options are a bit limited. However, I feel fairly confident in my pick:

Guts from Berserk. I think his character is interesting enough and well, I've only ever read two manga before, Berserk and Hellsing.

Alphonse Elric from FMA... though the dynamic between the Armstrong siblings is brilliant

Takashi Morinozuka from Ouran High School Host Club... once again I haven't the faintest idea why...
Kana from Haibane Renmei (I know, it was an incomplete doujin, but I'm counting it)

Ryouga Hibiki from Ranma½. It has long been my favorite manga and the first time he burst (wandered?) onto the scene in the manga, I just loved him. Over the years I've accrued MANY Ryouga/P-Chan items (still debating the P-chan tattoo, tho) and he remains the one manga boy I have a little crush on.
