Roy Khan of Kamelot, a male operatic singer in a metal band is pretty rare and awesome.

Holy shit. I didn't expect someone to point him out this early in the thread.

But yes, Roy Khan kicks ass. Providing vocals for a metal band that don't sound like Christian Bale's Batman stuck in an electric meat grinder is enough to earn some of my respect, but to sing with the voice of a fucking god? Awesome.
