Right, as you may have guessed if you have read any of my contributions to the forums, I am kind of a Valve fanboy. I believe that Half Life 2 is one of the only FPSes, maybe even the ONLY one, to be able to combine story and gameplay successfully. I never played the first one, sorry to anyone who might say I have forgotten about it, but the second entry in the series I found to be, simply put, mind blowing. Only problems I found with it were the squad commands and the fact that it wasn't very clear to see where you were supposed to go. But those were only extremely minor next to the gem that is Half Life 2, or as Bruce from Doomsday Arcade put it, Life.
I want to know, out of all the games that Valve have given to us, which one had the moment which made you just stop playing and see what was laid out before you. Yes, this will contain spoilers, but oh well, that's life. HALF LIFE that is.
Personally, my favourite moment in a Valve-made game has got to be in Left 4 Dead 2, the 4th chapter of Dark Carnival, when you have to open the park gates, and even before the gates open, you get what has got to be several hordes jumping over walls and fences to kill you. You think that's bad? The AI Director then throws even more infected and Special infected at you when the gates are opened, as you make a desperate scramble to the safe room. Seriously, even doing this on normal is difficult. I made it to the safe room with 2 health, the AI Rochelle and Nick dead, and my human team mate downed, and close to death. It's only one part of a game filled with these moments, but that is the one that stood out.
What do you think? Tell me what your favourite Half Life, Left 4 Dead, Counter Strike or Team Fortress 2 moments were.
