What does cosplay mean?

Someone please explain.
It means to dress up as a character from a favorite series. Sort of like Halloween, cept' with home-made stuff.

I dunno what I'd do. Never been to a cosplay event or anything... I guess I'd try my hat at something simple first. Maybe a Pheonix Wright? All you would need would be a good wig and a suit...

I must admit, I had a Naruto headband. My boyfriend gave it to me in middle school, even though I didn't like the show or manga.

Still, the concept of cosplay seems more interesting than actually doing so, to me. Anyway, I'm the type of person who would look like a complete anime freak if I were to cosplay, so I'll kick back in my signature black jacket and slightly disheveled hair.

I'm going to a Sci-Fi/Anime Convention in October and I'm looking into acquiring the outfit Lelouch wore when he became emperor of Britannia

Imperial Guard Kasrkin or Space Marine armor and weapons. I'm currently working on the former.

Most of the time, however, I go in non-canon costume, mainly Steampunk/Fantasy wear. If anyone asks, it's my D&D character.

As for pieces I want but don't have, there's two. One is a good replica of Fox McCloud's outfit (The jacket/bandana/gloves/pants/gun, not a fursuit). The other is these goggles. [http://www.gearfuse.com/steampunk-goggles-with-variable-aperture/]

I don't cosplay, but i saw some real freak ones at Tora-Con last month. I was there for an unrelated event on campus.

I swear, if I ever see another member of Organization XIII walking around my campus speaking in pseudo-jap, I'm reaching for garrote.

without sounding too arrogant, my breasts/figure.. simply because I can fill out certain characters better <

though actual costume wise I tend to lean to my hakama, yukata, full Kimono, juban, rika tabi etc...because

1: they are AUTHENTIC made in and from japan ( though some I have made, but did so traditionally, and not off a crappy incorrect pattern)

2: I have them already for real occasions, such as trips to the zendo, or festivals, or martial arts
