Yeah. The guy was a racing legend and to lose him and his son and the other family all in one is a great tragedy. I salute thee, master of rally.

It's spelled Colin McRae. I was never a racing fan, but it really was a tragedy.

I really want to play FF VIII and IX. The battle system of VIII sound very interesting and i would like to see the story of IX. Cloud always seemed the coolest main character IMO. He gives a sort of cold apathetic yet still depressed and haunted character air but i haven't played his game.
Certainly playing VII was great seeing how awesome the PS1 titles were compared to PS2. Although i did enjoy them all. Got over XII quickly.
The junction system in FF8 is really quite fascinating to tinker around with, though a lot of people argued it just made things too easy since you could just switch junctions from chara to chara and there was little customization. Still, pretty fun. (triple triad is soo much fun...)

The Materia system in 7 is probably one of the best there is. There's cause and effect for each materia, and if you breed your chocobos properly, you can access very powerful Materia. I rather enjoyed it.

FF9's story is .. honestly, one of the best in the series. FF7's is up there as well, and ... okay. 8's is bumpy and hard to grasp enough to care about, but the characters for the most part are good. -- back to 9! I really reccomend it. Great, GREAT story, good gameplay, and chocobo hot and cold will eat your soul. It really will. XD; plus it's the only way to get some of the final weapons.

I'm playing my PS1 games on my PS3 and it's like "HURRRK...." and lags, and it makes me laugh. XD; It's like in physical pain from playing PS1 games. XDD

G-police was awsome aswell as twisted metal.. We used to play those alot. Among others were Tekken 2, definatly a classis.

Legend of Legia was also one of the first RPG's that got me involved, pretty neat game really!.

also that really wierd sidescroller with the woman and the Jester. I can't remember it, but it used to be pretty big around it's time, at least in Denmark.

I know that game, it's called Pandemonium, my Middle school had a Ps1 with that game, except we had no memory card so we played the first level over and over.

Anyway, my favourite game for the Ps1 is either Final fantasy 8 or Mortal Kombat 3. Shang Tsung FTW!

My favourite game (of all time actually) has to be Final Fantasy VII. FF IX came very close though. I would also say FF VIII but when my save got 'corrupted' at just before the final boss I kind of fell out with it :p
Other than that, there's the two Abe games, GTA 1 and London, Resi 2, Mortal Kombat 3 (agree with you CosmicStorms), Silent Hill... Wow, there's so many!
And Ricknub (below) I'd forgotten about Bushido Blade, that was brutal. Loved it.

Unfortunately I was not very good at FF7 in my younger years (I essentially ignored the materia system and was confused when Barret was the only person in my party who could attack ranged enemies). My most vivid memory is playing it while at a friend's block party until about 1 a.m. I had at least 4 sodas in a very short period of time, and woke up the next morning with a stomach virus. I barely touched FF7 again.

My favorite games of the ps1 era were probably Resident Evil, Destruction Derby, and Bushido Blade. I remember the first time I reached the end of RE, when Jill frees Chris from the cell, I thought I could actually see a smile on Jill's face when she did that weird wave that she did. The detail of the graphics astonished me.

And as for Bushido Blade? It was just badass.

Valkyrie Profile. Bought this game on a whim (almost got Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey instead), turned out it was one of the best RPGs I've ever played. Great music, awesome battle system, beautiful 2D sprites and backgrounds, and 3 endings that have a deep story (if you do the right things at the right time). It was a rare game on the PS1 (made by Enix before the merger with Square), but with the PSP remake, everyone should try this game. it is similar to, but far superior to the PS2 sequel.

I was 8 when my dad bought us a ps1,and i was only alowed to play it for an hour. But over time I adopted the machine and it was moved to my room where i played it for hours on end. I remember the first Metal Gear Solid demo and Soul Reaver demo on my demo disk, it also had Spyro, Grand Turismo and Test Drive 5. but the six games that made me the great gamer I am today were: Spyro 1, Spyro 2(Ripto's rage), Spyro 3(year of the dragon), Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3, and finaly CTR. I LOVED them and i am at 100% (or higher)in all of them, i still play them today. the new spyro and crash games realy suck because they are not made by Insomniac and Naughty Dog, Naughty Dog went on to make the Jak and Daxter series, then Uncharted (Drake's Fortune). Insomniac went on to make the Ratchet and Clank series, then Resistance (fall of man). I recently played OoT and Majora's Mask for the Gamecube, but they came out in the PS1 era. Im at 100% in both of those too!
