Pretty self-explanatory, are there any songs that make you really sad and depressed, but you still listen to it cause it's at the same time a great song?

I'm pretty addicted to White Sparrows by Billy Talent, and yet it makes me cry and fear. The song is about a guys love of his life having died, and the lyrics describe their love and his pain so well, that it just makes me cry and fear that it will happen to me.

Lonely Day by System of A Down. It's sad, yet hopeful.

EDIT: also Recessional by Vienna Teng.

And my Fangirl-ish nature is about to shine, but, Halo 2 OST Vol. II - Delta Halo Suite [Dust and Bones] and Halo 2 OST Vol. I - Heavy Price Paid

Tori Amos - Playboy Mommy
That last part when she's on the verge of tears, singing "to take you in my... arms..." gets me crying every time.

Pierrot The Clown by Placebo is a very beautiful song, as well as Burger Queen also by Placebo. They both have elements of domestic abuse which developed into addictions of different kinds, and they're truly beautiful.

Another one is Elizabeth On The Bathroom Floor by Eels, it's about the lead vocalist's sister committing suicide.

Its sort of a mix between "Sad Songs and Waltzes" by Cake and "Lonely Day" by System of a Down. Although I'm not entirely sure if the former really counts as a "sad song." It's sad and comical, dunno if that mixes well

Ehm, let me see.

- Zanarkand, Nobuo Uematsu.
- Lux Aeterna, Clint Mansell.
- Mad World, Gary Jules.

But, high above those three: Street Spirit, by Radiohead. The saddest song I've ever heard and will hear in the rest of my life, probably.

anything by Tarja Turunen, her voice is beautiful so she could probably sing the dildo song from youtube and still make it sound operatic and beautiful
i suppose my little pheonix from her solo work is the best example (only cause im listening to it now) but she is just a brilliant vocalist

It's sad because it's about a child drowning and the parents of a drowning victim played it at his funeral about 3 months ago.

Hurt - Johnny Cash. Yes, it was originally a Trent Reznor song, but Cash's version makes it about a man who reaches the end of his life and looks back on all he's lost. Very sad, very beautiful.

I find Yesterday (Beatles) pretty sad, but I love it, and listen to it regardless of my mood
